I was watching SNTV (Somali national TV) also the propaganda machine for the Somali government and what is the first thing I see? A musician 'Somaaliyeed' who is in infact a Bantu (continue reading, this is a not a hate speech). Now, under pressure from rights group and the UN the government is assimilating these minorities and advertising them as Somali all over the TV. I raise my eyebrows and watch on as he begins to sing in 'Af Soomali' making the viewers aware of the language and that he speaks it; more subconscious propaganda in motion propelled by a desperate government.

The Somali government is not protecting the ethnic citizens of Somalia via citizenship laws that will eventually lead to resource sharing (our ancestor's hard-earned resources, which they died for). Anyone can achieve citizenship in Somalia, which brings me to the question: what is the point of these resources? We died for nothing, we were refugees all over the world for nothing, we were begging in every nation-state since the 90's for asylum and we have no outcome, no real outcome. A cheap foreign aid funded AU intervention in the capital (which isn't even working since al-kebabs can hide bombs under their turbans and explode themselves anytime of day) has become of this country. A missing national identity, we can't expect this silly old man who can't even pronounce 'world' properly to fix this all. His 4 year term will be over in a heart beat, he will plunder from the national finances and off he goes, buying his family nice little villa of the coast of Spain, never to be heard of again. He explicitly stated he would not re-run for office (I wonder why?).

Now, with the case of S/Land, a country with a national identity and a president who has sacrificed his entire life to liberation, to freedom is one to be trusted by his people. Okay, so he may not be the world's best foreign policy expert but he does the job, a man of vision and hope; this is what a leader entails, this is what is needed for the fruits of a great nation that is united.

I hope I don't come off as negative, but as a human I do not hope to see S/Land be dragged down along with Somalia and I say that with sincerity. This isn't my sympathy for SNET users (far from it) but for the people who deserve better than citizenship to a nation which its resources will be free to be given to all regardless of struggle and right.

i for one support the granting of SL citizenship to tens of thousands of bantu, they are a hard working and usefull people.
