Basra is right though. Not about the naxariis though but the annoying asylum stories. Some used to claim morgan and caydid personally raped in order to get resettled in the west.

Rape is an act that is not easily claimed by the raped: at least not by somali women. Rape is a tool of intimidation in Somalia and carried out by qat addicts, al-sheydhan, rogue soldiers, foot soldiers of warlords etc.

Re: CNN: rape culture in Somalia
Great work by Imaan! No one is going to fake rape to get any sort of assistant, specially when you consider the reality that in Somalia women, and rape victims in particular barely receive any sympathy or aid from Somalis.
And if we are to even entertain the possibility that some Somali women are faking hideous crimes to secure their basic needs, then what does that say about us?
P.S. What does a SIX year old girl know about faking a rape incident to get to the "West"? Seriously, there is no need at pointing at possible fake stories of rape to downplay the severity of this issue in our society.
