Leaders speak against bad mouthing of AMISON countries

Leaders of countries contributing troops to the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) today said unfair accusations, deliberate distortion of facts and bad mouthing against their members must stop.

The leaders’ spoke in the wake of a statement appearing in Kenyan and Somali media, attributed to some Somali leaders, saying Kenya should withdraw its troops from the Horn of Africa country. The Somali delegation withdrew the statement at the meeting at Munyonyo, Uganda, after Kenya and other regional countries strongly objected.

Kenya has played a leading role in peace initiatives in Somalia, leading to major achievements including liberation of the Port of Kismayu.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the AMISOM Troops Contributing Countries (TCC) Heads of State Summit in Uganda, regional leaders also rejected suggestions to re-hat the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

The leaders, including President Uhuru Kenyatta, Yoweri Museveni and Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, argued that the move was premature and would cause a dysfunctional command and control.

They said folding AMISOM into the UN Mission would cause inequitable distribution of resources and render operations of the Mission ineffective.

They emphasized the need for continued African leadership in the efforts to stabilize Somalia and reduce the threat of Al Shabaab. They underlined the fight against Al Shabaab as the major focus of TCC.

The summit also supported the Federal Government of Somalia’s commitment to hold elections by 2016.

The leaders requested the Federal Government of Somalia to prioritize the reintegration of various militias, with the exception of Al Shabaab and its allies, to establish a cohesive Somalia National Security Force.

The status quo will remain, not sure why the Mayor of Xamar continues to waste his time and money on this issue when Xamar is being retaken over by Al Shabaab.

For those who have literally taken to heart the communique that came out from Uganda, may I remind you or ask what happen to the communique IGAD came out with from Addis Ababa meeting?
The wording of these communique are not worth more than the papers they are written on. For those new to politics you shall figuare out in due time.what is said in a communique and what actually happens are two different things. Remember, a communique has one language and that is to respect any sovereignty. The reality is usually another thing. for instance, handing over to the "Federal government", can be interpreted in different ways. It could mean handing over to the Federal state, in this case Juballand, which I think is what will end up happening. The troop contributions can also be interpreted differently. The two states that have the biggest interest in the area i.e Kenya and ethiopia could be contributing the bulk of the forces and with a small contingent from other countries. This will maintain the stays quo.You will find as with the previous IGAD communique, the reality to be quite different. It's called high level politics and at this level, everyone is polite, but stabs you in the back whilst smiling!

This criminal Hassan Sheikh regime has plumbed new depths of shame and humiliation.
The IC has understood this regime is not interested in taking the country forward.

Al shabaab are resurgent.
Corruption, amazingly, has surpassed the Sheikh Shariff era.
Polarization and infighting are widespread.

The chumps who believe what Sahal writes will be shocked at this African reality.
The Hagites have basically been told to "Sit down and STFU!" :D :som:
