American official initially reported that they had seized the Shabab leader, but later backed off of that account.

He kills and blows up innocents and civilians, he is evil regardless of his religion. Why wouldn't I be glad if I hear the death of an evil man

You have a point but im not sure if that notion actually applies in the case of Godane and like minded people

I'm sure humanity and those that lost loved ones are entitled to label a person willing to blow up a street full of women, children and elderly for no reason as evil. Would you rather he stay alive to kill more innocents

It makes no difference if he stays alive or killed; al-Shabaab's ideology wouldn't die. Remember Amir Ceyroow? A missile* weighing thousands of pounds pulverized him along with 10 other people in 2008. However, his movement has only gotten stronger.

Of course it might make a difference. There are more sane elements in Al-Shabaab like Mukhtaar Rooboow and others.
