US intends to establish military bases in somali borders

Post by sahal80 »

------with kenya and djibouti

Since the westgate attack, the US and east african countries have been planning this.

I can understand kenya but where the djiboutian fear comes from since there is already the biggest american military base in africa who can land quickly...

Excuse me I just read this in a somali website.

No its the same US djiboutian and kenyan bases but the US soldiers and KDF have been spreading in lamu just behind kismayo last week and the operations are to secure the borders from the "threat" coming from somalia so they got it wrong.

"The US is responding to the increasing security threat in East Africa by strengthening military bases in Kenya and Djibouti.
The Pentagon is building air-support facilities at Manda Bay in Kenya, which can accommodate giant cargo planes.
The US installation in Djibouti, known as Camp Lemonnier, has become the nerve centre for Pentagon operations throughout the Horn of Africa"
