The british were not against a unified Somalia, they and the UN actually made sure Somalia got independence. The Italians wanted to keep their part and the French and Ethiopians did keep theirs.

The British actually tried to keep the whole Hawd in Somalia but Ethiopia complained to the UN and they ruled for Ethiopia.

You mean modern Djibouti and Italian Somalia? Those were not given away by the British, it was the Sultan of Zanzibar who legally (if not really de-facto) ruled over the Banaadir including Mogadishu. He sold that to the Italians. The Italians then muscled their way to the Jubba River and convinced the Hobyo and Majerteen sultanates to sign protectorate agreements. The one part of Somalia that the British did indeed sell to the Italians was Trans-Juba. The French bought Obock (which they would expand into Djibouti) from the Sultan of Awsa.

If you mean Ethiopian Somalia you are absolutely right. The British sold out the Sultan of Harar to the Ethiopians in exchange for various concessions, they should have protected their protectorate there and defended Harar from Menelik II instead of leaving them with a handful of cannons and firearms and hope for the best. The British did not exactly sell Harar though, Ethiopia still had to conquer it, they just agreed not to protect it from Ethiopia.

In the end all the colonizers left except for Ethiopia, who remain.

Gurey its good though that Emperor haile sallasi refused, the Ethiopians complaining helped the greater Somali weyn myth remained buried when Haile salassie enshrined the African union treaties that the boundaries of Africa should remain as they were at the time of independence. Never trust the British and their trickery double diplomacy they promised reer NFD To be part of Somalia but they backstabbed them. They gave our land hawd and reserve to Ethiopia.

What does that have to do with his mother he is telling the truth there has never been a Somali state before 1960 we used various mythologies to lump a non existed nations together under a fake ethno nationalism a political concept we undermined just with in a decade after the military junta.
