The adviser guy is right, HIPS can't be independent they are ala sheikh.
Shirdon Is Gone Who Will Try His Hot Throne.
Abdi Farah Shirdon is on his way out and many are gearing up for the position after his departure but the question that needs to be addressed is what are the challenges awaiting Mr. Shirdon replacement.
Is it only the busy luxurious international travels and the weekly cabinet meetings that lots of Somali nationals are talking about or is there hidden political driven duties that are not disclosed to the unnamed premier? Only the time will tell.
Serious challenges waiting.
There is no doubt that President will name a new PM after serious consultations and the parliament will pass without question but the conflict will start moment after his being sworn, in the swearing ceremony the PM will hold the glorious holy Quran on his right hand as tradition and swear in the name of Almighty I will protect the interest of my people (all Somalis), the nation and the religion.
All Somalis citizens following the occasion will agree innocently and accept that the new PM will be different and will work for the interest of all Somalis regardless of their ethnic background.
But right on the function several members of parliament the same ones who ousted and opted for a new PM will node their heads in agreement expecting goodies from the New PM for their respective communities and if not chase him in the same road as Mr. Shirdon has followed.
The new PM should focus and give a lot of efforts to the establishment and revival of security agencies in the country and all other collapsed government institutions.
He should also do a lot more on education, health and infrastructure as well as fighting corruption within his own underperforming cabinet while expecting political fight back in the name of protecting interests because success does not come in a silver platter.
Reactions over the vote of no confidence.
There a lot of rumors circulating among the Somali citizens on who is going to be the next PM and as usual tribal allegiance politics is top on the agenda for many of them.
However various Somali intellectuals and organizations have commented on their part on what they think went wrong in sending out Shirdon on vote of no confidence by the parliament, some described the process as fraudulent and undemocratic while others termed the outcome as healthy political breakthrough that sweeps the country roads into democracy.
Heritage Institute for Policy Studies an independent nonprofit policy research and analysis institute based in Mogadishu, Somalia have revealed its dissatisfaction on how the crisis was handled and wrote this in protest.
"The rift between the top two officeholders in Somalia, and the subsequent removal of Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon 'Saa'id', has dealt a serious blow to the credibility of the Federal Government of Somalia and disoriented it from the urgent task of state-building."HIPS said in its statement.
It went ahead and said "Still the crisis may offer a second lease of life for the government if managed properly. To regain confidence domestically and internationally, President Hassan Sheikh must urgently appoint a capable and credible prime minister and allow him to independently execute his constitutional responsibilities, starting with refocusing the government's agenda back on institutional building and fighting corruption.".
In response to heritage institute comment Ismail Osman senior adviser to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Government believes that the Somali parliament showed the world that Somalis can resolve their political differences through democratic process and HIPS hoped political fight which didn't happen.
"HIPS have hidden agenda ! It's political platform group in my opinion and they akin to be a political part at the end . May Allah guide the President to make wise choice." He prayed.
On his part the leader of peace and Democratic Party Abdullahi Sheikh told Radio Dalsan in an exclusive interview that if the president and the parliament wanted to reform the government then they could have started with the cabinet.
"I advise the president to send all cabinet ministers home, that is the area which needs serious reforms." he said adding that sacking the PM only will not change the situation on the ground.
