People and Places of Africa

This thread is intended to highlight the diversity and richness of African cultures and regions through photos. Feel free to post a picture of indigenous Africans, preferably wearing traditional clothing, or of traditional African architecture or natural landscapes. Discussions related to the topic are also welcome.
Guidelines:
- Only post pictures featuring indigenous Africans and not Arabs or others descended from non-Africans. And no, Somalis, Imazighen/true Berbers, and other similar peoples are not typically descended from non-Africans, so you may include them as well.
- You must identify the name of the ethnic group (or at least the country they are from) or the location of the place featured in the picture you post.
- Do not post pics of architecture built by settler groups (so this would include some parts of South African, Egypt, and other African nations).
- Feel free to type a few sentences to further enlighten the rest of us about what is depicted in the pic.

From what I've seen, that is the traditional north Sudanese or Nubian style of dress. It is not dissimilar to the traditional clothing of Beja men so I have to disagree with you there.

Tuareg girl
Tuaregs, also known as “Berbers” (a label placed upon them by Europeans), are a native people of many parts of Central, West ,and North Africa (Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Mali, Niger, etc). Since the Arab migration into North Africa, their numbers have dwindled but still carry a strong presence in the Sahara, where they are the primary residents.

Abbas Idris is a Somaliland citizen, but was not born there. He arrived as a British teen in 1943, so he is not a young man.

Tuareg boy in Agadez, Niger
Agadez, also Agades, is the largest city in northern Niger, with a population of 88,569. It lies in the Sahara and is the capital of Aïr, one of the traditional Tuareg–Berber federations. The city was founded before the fourteenth century and gradually became the most important Tuareg city, supplanting Assodé, by growing around trans-Saharan trade. The city still sees the arrival of caravans, bringing salt from Bilma.
In 1449, Agadez became a sultanate, while around 1500 it was conquered by the Songhai Empire.
