PEOPLE ASSUME THE WORST: when..

they see a solo male traveling with a young child alone without the company of a female companion. been doing bit of traveling, still am and what can I say. At pretty much every stop where passport clearance is necessary they question you and almost look at you like a criminal without any benefit of a doubt. I would be surprised if this is the same for female solo parents.

I know and I understand the concerns about child abductions have made governments around the world very cautious when one parent is traveling with a minor child to a foreign destination but the predetermined judgement towards fathers is shocking. Its hard having to explain how this is your child and show papers.. and then the questions about the mother.

Discrimination against single fathers is common. Sucks that you're a victim of it though

Gotta admit tho, its a tidbit unusual, more power to you if you can manage travelling with a toddler.

Not trying to justify it but parents abducting is pretty common esp. if battling nasty custody.

But yes,unfortunately the system punshines the fathers more.

I've gotten weird looks sitting in parks alone, walking with my nephew, and even buying my niece a gift.

I don't look twice at strange kids. Even when they smile and wave.
