Cairo the new Baghdad?

Post by Bermooda »

Well its slowly heading that way that's for sure. The Question now is is this the work of MB or the military junta trying to scare the people in order to justify giving themselves more authoritarian powers :|
Huge bomb rocks centre of Cairo. Blast was at security directorate and witnesses said gunmen afterwards opened fire on buildings
A huge car bomb rocked the centre of Cairo early on Friday morning, killing three people and injuring 40

Looks like isolated incidents to me, there is no organised and armed rebel group with any substantial presence in egypt. What is going in iraq is secretarian violence between sunnis and shias.
Egypt doesn't have the same division as iraq does so i doubt we will see constant bombings occur that targets a specific group/sect; notice a police station was attacked which indicates its specific opposition to the institution controlled by the government.
I think if cairo goes up in flames it will be because of rebel groups like in libya and syria.

Isolated do you know how many of those happened after MB were massacred in that sit in they had.

What you are seeing right now is only beginning of something much worse. Did you know some parts of the Sinai is controlled by armed tribes who are sympathetic to he MB :?:

Sinai is huge desert, there's no way for egyptian army to control it all. I am aware there are rebels operating in egypt and fighting the government by sabotaging infrastructure and targeting institutions. But to me it looks like sporadic hit and run attacks similar to the ira. I think time will tell if it gets much worse than this we will see major problems.

Exactly but it could evolve remember there are many countries wanting to see Egypt break up in many controllable minu states like Somalia
