within 24 hours you have isbaaaro all over, and millitia carving out turfs .
within 48 hours you have turf wars between millitia.
within a week you will see alshabaab back in moqadishu and fully take over the rest of the south in another 2 weeks,.

Why would Shabaab come back ...is it because
large numbers of people support/supported them?

Surely that is not the case now?

because they are the only group who are organized enough to do so, and there is no other united front. It's not because of popularity or anything, but in the face of chaos, groups like Al Shabaab prevail because if nothing else they provide some sort of law and order.

Shabaab would take over the country because of the arms embargo. Foreign troops are irrelevant.

Absolutely no interference from outside forces?

I dont think isbaaro would be up but Al Shabab would have taken over the entire country in a matter of a week. All of the south. All of Puntland. Somaliland as well but there will be a tougher fight there. Burco would fall the quickest. Everything west of Burco will be more of a struggle but eventually will fall

There is very little loyalty to the state but their is heavy loyalty towards their clan. I can see the disintegration of the Somali armed forces and a return of the militias to their homes.
Even if this was not to happen i doubt the militias have the morale and discipline to fight a more sophisticated and heavily motivated group like Alshabab.
