POLL: Should Somalia adopt the Federal system?

This is a important question we nationalistic people should address. I sincerely believe that the Federal system is a threat to the nationhood of our country. Due to our tribal mentality the Federal system is not right for our people. The Federal system will only make Somalia weaker but also create more division amongst our people.

For example:

Gaalkacyo a dusty third-world town inhabited by numerous clans cannot unite under one administration, on one fence we have Galmudug and the other fence Puntland.

Therefore Somali mentality on federalism = rule my tribal land.

This is deadly, qabil qaran ma dhiso.

The only people that support the Federal system are the tribal minded people.

Share your opinions, and listen to this song before you even reply.

Guul Somalia! We will one day reach the moon and forget our tribal mindset InshaAllah!! :som:

As long as we have differences ( qabiil, degaan etc) we will need federalism. Centralism only works for people who have no differences or are the same kin.
If you look at our neighboring and even most succesful countries they have Fedaralism and some kind of autonamy ( spain).

Yes ofcourse. A decentralized Somalia is a better Somalia.

But clan states should be a big no.

1) Two Jubbas + Two Shabelle = 1 state
2) Gedo + Bay + Bakool + Hiiraan= 1 state
3) Galgaduud + Mudug + Nugaal + Bari = 1 state
4) Banaadir= Federal Capital District

You guys have failed to analyse things with the reality. In the nature of Somali people for us to be successful the federal system will not benefit us but rather spoil us.

The Federal system works best in countries with diverse ethnic groups, religions and countries with big land mass like USA. Perhaps rethink about it and see things in a greater perspective.

Federal system is a disease to the Somali people.

A problem requires a solution. Somalis have deep divisions that cannot just be ignored. Last time it was ignored the country went toast. So there has to be a solution and ofcourse change comes with that. If the consequence is a 21st century Berlin wall in somalia then it should be stuck to. There is another solution though, the major clans in the country can all go their merry ways but i dont think thats an option somalis are willing to take.

You are being unrealistic, the federal system cannot function in Somalia because the gobols that you just lumped together would NEVER agree to be part of one state. The federal system isnt the problem pe se, but it becomes a problem when you apply to country like Somalia, which has extremely rivalry and a war like population with zero sum mindset.

Exactly! These Somalis have failed to see that not all systems are compatible to certain group of people.

You have admitted that Somalis have deep divisions. Therefore how can federalism be a solution for them? If anything it will cause more turmoil and problem. Somalis need a unified system to bring a full-functioning state.

How is allowing major clans to go their merry ways a solution? How is that going to bring a nationhood? You sound really dumb

p.s. This thread was for nationalistic people, from your comments you don't seem like a nationalistic person so I won't judge you.

I was always nationalistic. I suggest you study what nationalism means. Culture is one aspect of Nationalism, and Qabil is a part of Somali culture. I have respect for my qabil.

Somalis need to separate qabil from qabyaalad.

For instance some countries have diverse ethnic groups, every ethnic group is proud of his/her own ethnic group. However if people discriminate each other over ethnicity it will only cause failure to the country they share.
