Why is it whenever I place a call to back home, and for some reason or another it fails to go through, invariably, I hear a hoarse male voice on the other end of the line informing me of this very fact? Would it not make more sense to hire a female for this particular position? It is no secret women, generally speaking, are blessed with a voice far more gentler and certainly more pleasing to the ears than any man can ever boast of. That is why phone operators worldwide happen to be overwelmingly females. Somalia is the exact opposite. You rarely ever find a female operator. In fact, after a countless number of calls I have made over the years to back home, today for the first time I heard the voice of a female operator. This singular and somewhat unexpected incident is what prompted me to initiate a thread on the subject.
Perhaps, this peculiarity of ours may be attributed to some age old religious or cultural based dogma, such as woman's voice often being viewed in conservative Islam as a potential sexual instrument akin to something nearing the actual act of zina, or it may have something to do with the notion that women are strictly forbidden to work outside their homes, or things along those lines. Whatever the reason, I know for a fact that the some of the major Somali telecommunications companies have a long standing policy of not hiring women at all. Shame on them!
We need more female telephone operators..

More like the peculiarity of your OUT OF HAND, sexual libido. If u get excited by a mere voice, u have one BIG PROBLEM inaa adeer! Curb your horniness walaal, it is not Islamic!
The problem lies in the economics of Somalia. Work is scarce, therefore, I wont be surprised jobs that are typical women jobs goes to a respectable Somali male. Such as the region and the times!
But I am serious-- walaal--- curb your lascivious disgustfulness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Barbarossa saaxib where do you live? In my part of the world, you no longer hear human voices: It is a machine that responds when you call to book/complain etc. You have to pronounce the name of the person you want to speak to; the town of your destination etc. Horrible moments.
Nightmare situation. The somalis do not have P, V and Z... and you start repeating. I had a friend who got a ticket to the "Faroe islands" instead of Virginia because he said "Farjeeniya"
