Putin is part of the old school KGB crew so in a way, he does want the old "federation" back. But what I was referring to were the enormous goas and oil reserves Ukraine (more specifically Crimea) is sitting on. Gazprom (Russian owned oil company) owns about a fifth of the world's gas reserves, supplies more than half of Ukraine's, and about 30% of Europe's gas annually.

Russia annexed crimea and nobody did a thing about it.it looks like the rebels are strong enough to defeat the army in the east.there will be no world war 3.
