Kenya Somalia sea dispute how will it end
Kenya and Somalia have been in a dispute over the seas for years i believe since 2009 Somalia took their case to the ICj UN court , but who is presenting Somalia's case. Kenya with the consent of the TFG led a Military mission into Somalia since 2011. Kenya has ever since being involved in Somalia domestic issues. Though incompetency on the side of the Somalia leaders made this all happen the lack of an effective Naval force and allegations of former TFG administrations accepting bribes from Kenyan counter parts. The question remains will Kenya be halted to sell blocks to OIL firms by the court case to solve the maritime dispute. And Kenyas incursion into Somalia under the pretext of Fighting Shabaab Millitants their Operation Linda Nchi will that make their case stronger to the seas or not.

It shouldnt be a "dispute" at all and should never have been turned into one. Somalia ratified its sea border delimitations back in the 80s. There was no issue back then, but now Kenya found resources that it could exploit.
Somali government should have just threatened the Kenyans and Norwegians of breaching sovereignty and then look for military measures no questions asked. By suing Kenya it's recognising the legitimacy of Ethiopia's claim and turning it into a "dispute". Imagine the fallout if Somalia were to lose to these courts, it would be unacceptable.

This is about Kenya not Ethiopia or did i miss something , you are right but Somalia does not have political leaders most of them are shortsighted , if Somalia loses the court than Kenya wins than Somalia has no legal case. But if she wins than that is good for Somalia but the question is can they win how strong is Kenya in this.Estarix wrote:It shouldnt be a "dispute" at all and should never have been turned into one. Yes i meant Kenya. The case is sent to the international court of Justice and they should be impartial..

That is Kenya's land. Somalia is used to stealing other people's lands. Today is today; he who says tomorrow is a liar.
They tried to steal the North Eastern Province from Kenya.

How strong is Somalias case to claim the sea dispute , if Somalia loses the case it loses all legitimacy over their claim, There is a reason the Kenyans are adamant to win the disputed sea the offshore territory is said to have allot of resources.

this is so stupid, there shouldn't be an argument its obviously in somalias territory. Theres obviously more to the story than just Kenya wanting the area.
maybe negotiaions that took place yrs ago with warlords promising them the sea maybe?

That territory belongs to Kenya and the ICJ/UN or whatever doesn't have any say.Hodan94 wrote:this is so stupid, there shouldn't be an argument its obviously in somalias territory. Theres obviously more to the story than just Kenya wanting the area.
