Ebola-like symptoms seen in 2 people isolated in Ottawa, Belleville
Two people with Ebola-like symptoms are in isolation after showing up separately at hospitals in Ottawa and Belleville, Ont.
One patient arrived at The Ottawa Hospital's General campus on Sunday and was immediately placed in isolation, Ottawa Public Health confirmed to CBC News on Monday.
The patient had recently visited a West African country where Ebola has been reported.
Samples from the patient have been sent to the National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg for testing, and results are expected by 6 p.m. ET Monday.
The patient is "doing well" and under observation, the hospital said in a news release.
The hospital received a call before the patient arrived to allow staff to prepare for the arrival, and special steps are being taken at the hospital to protect staff and other patients.
The person's age and gender are not being released to protect their privacy, the hospital said.
"All necessary precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of other patients, visitors and hospital staff," said Dr. Jonathan Angel, an infectious disease specialist at the hospital, in a news release. "Strict infection prevention and control measures in Ontario hospitals means the risk of Ebola to other patients and health-care workers is minimal."
Belleville case extremely low risk, hospital says
In the other case, a male showed up at the Belleville General Hospital's emergency room with Ebola-like symptoms late Sunday night.
The patient had recently made one stopover in an airport in Sierra Leone, and the hospital described the case as extremely low risk.
Within four minutes of his arrival at the Belleville hospital, he was placed in isolation, and no other patients in the ER had contact with him, the hospital said.
A news conference is expected to be held in Belleville at 2:30 p.m. ET Monday.

There is a strong chance that we might get killed in a car-bus accident, shot or stabbed to death, killed by food poisoning than by contracting the Ebola virus. For the last 6 months in this calendar year, 3500 Africans died of Ebola, guess how many died of hunger, of wars, HIV and Tuberculosis? In 2012 alone, 600,000 Africans (including many thousands of Somalis) died of Malaria, that is 600 times more than the Ebola virus has killed so far. Why did the U.N declare an unprecedented health mission to combat this disease when Ebola is nowhere close to being the biggest killer in Africa? 'Fear only fear itself'.

Your average illiterate racist and prejudiced citizen might think that you and Julkimi are the "monkey eating" Africans and he might start a campaign among his fellow peers that your relatives be refused entry to visit you because of Ebola. Soon you will hear few cases of Ebola has been found in Somalia. How come this Ebola virus has thus far killed only 3500 Africans when these countries don't even have the health facilities, or the protection required to curtail or contain the spread of this disease?
Don't you think that this Ebola scare was blown out proportion to put a seal to African migration to the West? If you don't, then you fail to read between the lines and failed see the bigger picture. If you do, there are no desperate people willing to migrate to the West than us, Somalis.

I don't care about the bigger picture. I don't want to catch Ebola from Vincent Mtumbo as I shop for discount foods.

"Discount foods"? Do you mean expired foods? I hear food poisoning.

Your average white racist guy are those who post in websites like Stormfront, tell and ask them, if they consider you and hunterKING "better" than a West African.
Sorry guys, it isn't my intention to call or associate two (you and hunterKING) noble people from the great region of Mudug as "savages" like a West African.
