Quitting Smoking

Post by unstoppablefade »

Anyone else been successful at quitting smoking? I been smoking cigs since i was 12 (smh i know) and quit for like 3 years when I was 18. Recently though, idk if its stress or something else, I started smoking again. I f-king hate that I relapsed but I tried every single trick and quitting this shit is a lot harder than it seems. It's a nasty habit and I want to get rid of it but i feel like a fiend cuz whatever I do I always end up relapsing. Makes me feel really shitty and helpless that I'm addicted to this shit because before I used to not give a fuck about my body n shit but now I'm actually fit and healthy and this shit is hella detrimental to my wellness/health. Any previous smokers that quit got any tips?

Do you know what level headed people think of smokers? They're nasty people. Every time I see one I cross the road. If I happen to be behind one of those human chimneys I will take a different route. I hate how their breath and clothes smell, and I avoid shaking their hands. If I have to, I will ALWAYS use hand sanitizer.

Just think of that.

Just take look at picture of lungs of smokers and non smokers for motivation.

I kicked another habit, its tobacco aswell is called snus in Swedish. Qutting smoking is easy compared to get rid of snus. It's all about the mental side of it. Even now I have to fight the urge of not getting in the store and buy something.

Even entertain the idea of smoking instead. Smh. Get out while you can, somehow.

Smoking is a hard habit to break and need to have a really good motivational reason to quit for good. if you live in the UK, you can join free NHS smoking cessation 12 weeks programs that is run by all the local pharmacies. Its very supportive n gives the choice to choose frm 3 types of stop smoking medications including any NRT products so given how commitment/serious you are then u will quit with this for good.

There was a bad influence in your life that got you back on it. You don't quit for 3 years then start again.

You can look for ways to ween yourself off but the bottom line is you can beat it yourself so why waste money.

Hypnotherapy. I've heard of people walking in as smokers and waking up as nonsmokers.

Don't buy a pack at all and if you really get the urge then look for a hookah place and smoke shisha instead. ..I know people who do that, smoke shisha every week once instead of cigarettes everyday

I've done it cold turkey, although I was more of a occasional smoker, the higher your motivation, the greater your will to overcome it.

Quitting smoking is not as hard as people make it out to be. If you wake up tomorrow and decide to stop YOU CAN STOP. It takes willpower and determination.
Every time you have the urge to smoke, teach yourself something else. Instead of a cigarette try an alternative food or drink to replace.

I know someone at my work place that quit smoking. I tell you what she did.

When she made the decision to stop she discussed it with people. At my work place we receive weekly newsletter in our emails. I think someone gave her the idea to write a article about her life and what it was important to her to quit smoking. She sent and posted this in our company newsletter. So we basically know her story and that her intention is to quit. I think other people joined her. As far as I am aware she quit smoking for a 1 year and half now. Pretty awesome.

I don't know what exactly what motivated her to quit. I am guessing letting people around her know and having support may have helped. Maybe using a similar idea may help. that's the only idea I have.

inshallah all the best
