Being an Organ Donor

Is it allowed?

I remember when I was replacing my Ontario health card, they asked me "Would you like to be an organ donor?" and I didn't hesitate. And now I am registered as such. They made me fill out a quick checklist of what I would like to donate, and I checked everything but my skin and bones.

Logic is, I want my family to be able to bury something lol. Image

But now that I am thinking about it...is it haram? I'd have the opportunity to save a minimum of 5 lives with my organs...

your body is not yours, its a gift which you borrow and must return in good condition. you will be severely punished for such a thing.

Really? lol @ must return.

I wonder, will Allah be happy with the 5 lives that I didn't help instead?

once you sign that card you don't know who your organs will be given to. for all you know you could be saving ayaan hirsi so she can continue her jihad against Islam.

Am very selfish i ticked no when i was going for my learners test. But if i was in Somalia and they had this system in place my decision would've been quite the opposite.

Seems like a logical thing to do, but what if that goes against the wishes of your family?

But I wouldnt want an alcoholic to have my liver

We shouldn't judge.

What if Cat Stevens needed help before he converted to Islam and my liver could save him, he wouldn't have inspired and raised awareness about positive Islam and been such a good Muslim for both himself and young adults all over the world - my sisters watch many of his videos - YouTube Yusuf Islam.

We should leave the judging to Allah, as you never know what is in someone's path or hearts.

Plus, if i became an organ donor and then happen to fall severely ill, i feel as though i won't get the best treatment from doctors and they will just wait for my situation to deteriorate enough to proceed with the organ harvesting.

If you are that ill, they wouldn't 'harvest' your organs loll Why would they give your sick body to someone who needs healthy and strong organs?

lol farhan, its something to consider but my question is; do i have rights to do so, after im dead?

i read a lot of fatwas about it and may i add very scholary opinion but in the end is opinions!.

i would let my family decide, i wouldnt care if they feed me to hynes or though me into sea.

^ That there (not necessarily very ill but, for example, if you're involved in an accident and you have a chance to be saved but a crooked doctor decides otherwise etc) is one of the two main reasons (I was still "practicing" religious back then so that was the 2nd one) why I ticked 'NO'. I am not still sure whether I would tick 'Yes' if I were asked today.

Evol,
Some organs will be use-able and some won't be it depends on the nature of the illness and extent of organ damage that occurred.

Evol I think the scholars agreed it to be permissible under 3 conditions.

If it is saving a life, If you're not doing it for the money and If it does not harm you as the donor / cause you to die while in the process.

I would suggest to follow it up with knowledgeable people.
