In my real life, sad 2 say this but
My own friends don't really know me bc I build an image for them. Why you ask? No Somali person can be trusted. I think we all are fake to each other. At my age I've learned not to trust none except my family.
When you narrate your life to your friends in such a way that they think they know you that when conflict happens they will only attack you with the phantom you assembled before their eyes and in the other hand you got the whole dirt on them.
Follow my advice and you'll be free of drama.

Re: In my real life, sad 2 say this but
im at uni at this point in time and since I have started and left home I have left all Somalis behind. I have no Somali friends at uni.
my Somali friends have now become distant from me ( well except for a few) because I haven't been into contact with them for so long...I can somehow I agree with your statement menace.
since moving out I have realised there is another bunch of ppl but there. I never even dreamt of being friends with indo yar or even yahuuds but I got plenty of them now which is very awkward in some sense but I became less of a badoow like most Somalis and now start to experience different cultures and styles.
I urge all young Somalis to move out of your majority somali neighbourhoods and meet and live with n0n Somalis. its pretty cool! i think the whole fakeness is because we're too close knitted we gotta separate and mingle with others.
at least I can escape the radars of the Somali citizen habro on patrol.

Re: In my real life, sad 2 say this but
Hodan94...living in a Somali enclave brings this "living for others mentality " I mean your actions are dictated by our social norms... God forbid that you have a failure in life such as a broken marriage or a sibling who strayed away from the trajectory of community's standards will lead to your own friends using this as a weapon for to attack you.
Furthermore if you let your guards down and not be careful around the hyenas around you who pretend to be your closest buddies then you will b hurt hard...therefore, you can't control what a family member does and most of the time your family members will be good people but when it comes to you then you need to build this image for them that they would be rendered clueless when you guys fall off...I just love how I am solo...if one of the dudes misbehaves I'm more than ready to cuss the shit out of him and risk losing the friendship without having second thoughts. ..I won't lose any sleep over it bc I don't get attached...sane way I've dealt with females, if I had a relationship wth her and she calls me out of the blue and says "I'm done " and I would b like "ok" and it's hilarious to me when she calls to say "I thought you loved me and would call back "..unbeknownst to her I never gave myself up to her, my emotions are cold

Hodan, am surprised that a young teenage girl like you can live far away from home on her own. From what you write here, I think you're 19yrs, max 21yrs. In Canada, all somalis who go to uni, live at home. UK doesn't have enough unis...

seriously, why care what other think or say? all you control is your action and never be just reaction or mirror for others action.
dadka dadka kale ko mashqoolo have too much time and like to distracted from their own issues and do not want to deal with it. smile and be kind to them.
