Re: Berbera port discussions with Dubai Firm
"Berbera Port
We have, for a while, been indulging in the search for the ways and means of soliciting for the investiture in/of major state coffers, amongst them the Berbera port.
However to allow any agency to run the port, we have to engage in a rigorous task of evaluations such that we can get the right choice; as such advisory and consultancy help are sought from the likes of the World Bank hence entails numerous and complex feasibility studies.
Those in the fore-front are:-
1. Bollore (France)
2. DP World (UAE)
3. Prime Africa (KSA)
4. Kuwaiti Logistics (Kuwait)
So far there is not even one agency that has been given any lease in the remotest sense."
P&O are owned by Dubai, like DP world, same CEO. And They also have a stake in DJubuuti port. So they may not be the best people to deal with. Running ours and our rival port? :/

I say let reer Kuwait have it. Kuwait have donated the most money to somaliland than all those other countries, plus they have a good relationship with Somaliland.Otherbrother wrote:"Berbera Port

But I would not let any of these companies have more than 50%.

1. must put a lot of money in
2. We ain't getting blindly robbed (as a unrecongized nation, we will be on the losing end of any deal)
3. It has a set time, like 20 years or less lease.

Whoever wins the deal, will run the port. Bollore is the most known as they been talking for years. Investing US$677mn into the port and bring in about 30% of Ethiopia's imports or something like that.Xamud. wrote:Are they expanding it?
So maybe expansion, maybe just bringing in state of the art equipment etc.

Re: Berbera port discussions with Dubai Firm
I prefer we build our own port instead of leasing it to Arabs , we can invest and enlarge the port and turn it into a Hub , UNDER no circumstance i will support the Arabs to take over Berbera and certainly Dubai port. They already manage Djibouti, no Kuwaitis no Arabs ma arki karo. Arabs are the enemies of Somaliland and traditionally and princely i do not want them to get rich from us. I prefer to be independent like and we manage our own affairs and Build and modernize our ports. If the Government leas it to Bollore logisitcs they might sell it to the SL masses , but even that is a loss for us in the long term. The best option is to Build our own ports. If this government tries to sell Berbera for their own pockets Trust me we will never accept it and Berbera falls under my Clan seas the Habar awal sea. And we will terrorize the those GIRLY ARABS.

Screw your Habar awal. Whatever benefits Isaaq is what needs to be done. There is a reason the is no cement factory, no expansion and nothing happening in Berbera. I cringe becuase of the berbera HA. Useless people. Thats because of the HA there. Ruined the city and moved to Gabeelay. We are becoming our own worse enemy.Khalid Ali wrote:I prefer we build our own port instead of leasing it to Arabs , we can invest and enlarge the port and turn it into a Hub , UNDER no circumstance i will support the Arabs to take over Berbera and certainly Dubai port. We HAVE NO MONEY. NO POWER(Electricty). WATER ISSUES. ENEMIES AROUND US. We have no time to build our own port. We ain't got the foundations. We need to lease it, and use our own money to build basic ports in maydh or xiis and service the east. Instead of them using Bosaso. WE need to use them, and get in check before the lease ends so we dont have to lease it again. Use them and let them use us.
30% of Ethiopia's imports, thats billions we could make. Ain't no one importing in berber but us right now. Your seeing Short sighted bro. We need a foundation before we deal with out own stuff. We also need Recognition. Have a plan like Taiwan's Ten Major Construction Projects plan. No country is anything without Infrastructure and manufacturing.
