What have they done to make them an illegal group? The interviews mention no illegal acts, except for wanting to separate due to underfunding/neglect by the government who've yet to even invite them to talks. Kenyan government is beyond incompetent if this is how they treat the legitimate concerns of their own citizens.

Mombassa has countless tourists every year who finish their safaris there, the Swahili get no schools or funding for their kids in return for their hard work in keeping the place peaceful and prosperous...Its better than Nairobi for history, beauty and culture. Coastal people are the 'friendly locals' that visitors talk about, they are the backbone of Kenya's tourism and fishing industry, the government is doing them a great disservice. They will never do what Al Shabaab do, they don't have it in them. I hope they don't get dragged in because it will be the excuse the USA, Europe et al need to fully invade East Africa...it will be worse than the Middle East.

I heard they're killing Marexaan in Somali Galbeed as well, they become police specifically for this reason. They are looting houses with Ethiopian police badges and issued weapons. Ogaden from the diaspora now in Kismaayo exclusively, there amidst the bloodshed. 1991 again but now in Kismaayo. I had hope for this country reconciling but it's never ending...I'm retiring in Gambia, I give up.

Al-Shabaab is violating one of the major tenants in Islam: Not harming the noncombatants. When Muslim army were at war with the Sassanid Persia, Khalif Abubakar Sadiq (May Allay be please with him) had this final warning with the Muslim army (10,000 strong): Don't harm the elderly, the women, the children, and any injured men whom you have captured in battle.

To Al-Shabaab, they have unleashed a massacre against a University in Garissa, where their killings against men, women, and elderly were carried indiscriminately on the sole basis that they were not Muslims. Where is their proof that the University, the students, and faculty members were part of the Kenya's military presence inside Somalia?

Al-Shabaab's claim of fighting for Muslims in East Africa is a hogwash. They are indeed endangering the lives of Muslims much worse than it has been.
