Help Fleeing Somali Refugees Coming From Yemen
Somalis are fleeing Yemen with no money in their pockets and just escaping with their lives. They are coming into Bosaso, penny less hungry thirsty and no one to rely on but on the good will of their Somali brothers and sisters. The Bosaso business leaders and religious leaders along with the local authority and population have mobilized to deal with the situation the best of their ability. Shelters have been set up and the people basic needs are being met. But due to the dangerous conditions of the Boosaso heat, which is at it's highest peek over 100 degrees this time of year, the urgency to move women and children out of the city is of outmost importance. Majority of the people arriving are from Other parts of Somalia, and they have no money to pay the fees to transport themselves. Now the burden is on the shoulders of all of us who has been made aware of this direr situation to lend a helping hand. All donations amounts are acceptable, please donate what ever you can to this urgent matter.

Hassan Sheikh is not rich enough to help them. The somali government lacks the resources.
This is a disastor. So please avoid injecting petty politics

Re: Help Fleeing Somali Refugees Coming From Yemen
Of the 6,000 Somalis who have fled the conflict in Yemen, 5,000 arrived in Puntland, the rest went to Somaliland. In Bosaso, families have been forced to take in 3 IDPs each as there isn't enough space in the camps. It's anticipated that another 50,000 will arrive soon, but there are not enough resources to look after them.Lamagoodle wrote:Hassan Sheikh is not rich enough to help them. Jamal has a point. Hassan Sheikh was the one who opened his mouth and made remarks that put these people in harms way. HSM's government hasn't contributed a dime to help these IDPs. They have the resources, but they'd rather spend it building homes and taking trips overseas. The reason the diaspora is forced to help is precisely because of this.
Knet,
I know the you're the one collected the money so what org/religious leaders are you working with?

Re: Help Fleeing Somali Refugees Coming From Yemen
Good thread, however I don't know if I can trust sites collecting money for the needy.. this shouldn't stop us though, we should give money to trustworthy people heading home this summer in Shaa Allah.
May Allah make thier lives easier, Aameen.

Re: Help Fleeing Somali Refugees Coming From Yemen
Djibouti, Somaliland and Puntland are the closest parts of the horn to Yemen so most refugees have gone there
UNHCR, WHO, Save the Children among others have set up in those regions and especially in Bosaso. They've put a lot of money into facilitating the reception and taking care of the refugees
Somalia is a poor country, the budget doesn't even stretch to it's own people let alone an influx of refugees from elsewhere
They seem to have it under control

An inter-agency immediate response plan for 5,000 new arrivals within the month of April was prepared, and UN and
NGO partners responded to the critical needs in line with their capacities and mandates. At the same time, a

and migrants, Ethiopian migrants and third country nationals) is being finalized.

Re: Help Fleeing Somali Refugees Coming From Yemen
BV, UNHCR will never have it under control. Somali diaspora should step into the plate , so at least the new Somali refugees from Yemen can be helped and settled in their home towns, so they can start their lives again. We should be sending donations to the ulema whose names are listed there.BlackVelvet wrote:Djibouti, Somaliland and Puntland are the closest parts of the horn to Yemen so most refugees have gone there
