Re: Bile Hashi; The auhor of 17 novels in Somali
I downloaded that Somali folk stories you posted. Some of the stories are relly something. Especially about the the stories of how in the old days cirka was soo close you could stick your finger in it. And how it shielded us from the sun and the cold and how two xalimos with kal iyo mooye ended up upsetting cirka by poking him with the mooye. After asking the girls to stop poking him and his complain fell on deaf ears he retreated to where it is today...
Amazing tales
Thanks.

Lama, which of his novels would you recommend? I've never read a Somali novel but there's a first for everything.

Lol,
I've never been to Kenya, only their airport if that counts.
SubahnAllah, you need dhaqan celis intervention ASAP.

No, it will take you less than a week to read it. It is written in easy somali and the context is always something the diasporians can relate. There is one criminal novel, 8 love stories, and the others are somehow documentaries on life in diasporaGeoSeven wrote:Lama, which of his novels would you recommend? The settings of his novels are contemporary.
This one could be a start

Its title is Calaf(Fate/destiny) and centres on the fate of Kaamil and Xasna; Kaamil is accused of murdering his family in Gothenburg (the home town of the author). He is freed and leaves Sweden for Nairobi where he meets Xasna who lost many of her members were kiled by thugs. The two meet in Nairobi. They have both undergone trauma but are attracted to each other.
It is about passion .....

Ok. You are not a member of the waan daadshe nation; I thought that you'd say that is Xamar Cade because of the shop (Banaadir)

Romance
I was going to opt for the Hammi Aduun revenge thriller but it'd probably be wise to polish my inexistent tender felt Somali vocab. Heaven forbid I came across a qalanjo in Suuqa Bakaaraha right now. Waxaa ku dhahaa u baahanahay
