Baseless political attacks. Somaliland has every reason to look after itself. It may not be the most moral thing, but a man has to to what he has to do.

My Kenyan brother respect. Look MJ always looking for attention, PR and candies but so far no one is goving them that except lil cartoon drawing from Amin Amir.

SL is murturing and has decided to separate emotions from politics. We are starting to see the beginning of a new chapter where heads rule hearts.

As a Kenyan I know you guys welcomed them with your hearts almost 30 years ago. Tell me how did they thank you?

I feel it for you dear brothers and I wish your Gov takes stronger response and turns blind eye on the so called aid agencies who are making killer money in your name on your own backyard.

The shut down of hawala is the beginning and the fence is great move.

SL is learning from Kenya.

Elaborate more on "Somaliland has every reason to look after itself". Somaliland is no Europe, circumstance had forced these people to take a ferry to SL as it is cheaper than maybe getting a plane ticket to their respective regions.

maybe SL should have acted with more sensitivity,
like allowing them to disembark to rest and recuperate before deportation.

Of course. Warancaade was trying to prove a point by playing the Antiwalanwein card. It back fired on him. Only a heartless ba,stard could deny the passengers from disembarking. Thank goodness for the Berbera Mayor who refused to be heartless and trying to prove a point with Somali women, children fleeing a conflict while letting Ethiopian, and Yemeni refugees in.

As for deportation, I doubt these people would want to live in Berbera. The climate is too hot and they have no reason to hang around because their relatives live elsewhere and Somalis always migrate to their home villages unless there is conflict. Not to mention that there are fewer economic opportunities for them in SL than in the South.

All in all, an epic failure by Silaanyo and Warancaade. Fortunately, the Berbera mayor and residents chose to take the high road and let their fellow Somalis disembark.
