Somali weddings.

Post by Idman702 »

People should stop letting their mothers and aunts organize the wedding. They should start hiring a wedding planner.

Every Somali wedding is the same, it's disorganized, old ladies ruin everything, the bride comes in late, they do Buranbuur for 3 hours, the dj messes up the songs, they play same songs in every Somali wedding, the food is cold, dry and tasteless, they serve xalwa and biscuit at the end of the ceremony in ziploc bag A ZIPLOC BAG, A SANDWHICH BAG and some old ladies hog all the bags, the xalwa is hard as a rock and there's only 2 cookies and a gum.

What I could never understand is why waste tens of thousands of $$$ for a fancy wedding and the married couple return to their rented apartment or,to the apartment in the project oo magaca eeddo laga soo wareejiye marka ay u guurtey another State. Why can't they host a small wedding for immediate family members and not the whole tolka in the city and save more to buy their own place? Somalida iyo faan buufis ah maxaa kala haaystaa. Sorry Dr, Professor, millionaire, sophisticated Idman, haddii aan threadkaaga meel kale la aadey, my sincere apologies.

In my view, no need for the Somali style weddings. Just have the doonis where the 2 families see each other and the meher (nikaax) in a weekend. For the wedding, choose a nice resort in the Carribean, Hawaii, or Costa Rica, and have a wonderful time, including the honeymoon, there. A nice and private wedding in one or 2 weeks is what is needed. 8-)

Idman, I never go to the weddings that took place at night unless it is for a relative or a friend that I could not miss. It takes hours and hours for the bride and groom to arrive. It is too disorganized, you're right cold food, and other drama.
