The Pope inspires Catholic to house Somali

This Pope is inspiring. He has promise and I hope he becomes a friend of Somalis like the late Pope John Paul and the Martyr Bishop Colombo of the Archdiocese of Mogadishu who was martyred by the Marxist regime after he expressed concerns about the massacre of civilians. Pope John Paul the 2nd was instrumental in getting Italia to retreat from joining the conflict between the Somalis and the UN forces in 1993.

The last Bishop of Mogadishu and potential candidate for Sainthood:

Bishop Salvatore Colombo

I read a story one time that there was a priest living in Somalia for 30 years and he only managed to convert 3 or 1 (I can't remember) Somalis into Christianity, ma run baa?

This show the strong Somali certainty in Islam.

Many Jareerweyne refugees from Somalia in Kenyan refugee camps have converted to Christianity. They often pray on these people with success.

The concept of the Somali ethnic group is a fairly recent one. It didn't exist in the past. Only when Europeans came to the scene and started carving up Africa did Somalis become aware of the existence of their ethnic group.

There was Somali aka Muslims vs. Gaal, nonMuslim ExSomalis. A good example are the Rendille people whose language is closer to Maxatiri than the Maay. These people held on to the Preislamic religion under an onslaught from the Christian Ahmara and the Muslim Somali

The Rendille language split from Somali before Maay & Maxaatiri split.

Rendille falls under Macro-Somali or Sam languages.
While Maay falls under Somali languages proper.

Moreover, the Rendille culture has changed a lot the past 500 years as they came into contact with the Samburu. They have picked up their culture and ditched their old Cushitic culture & customs.

The Gabra tribe is probably more representative of old school Somalis than the Rendille are.

You really think the Ciise in Djibouti and the people in Garrissa in 1700 viewed themselves as the same ethnic group?

The French started labeling the Ciise as Somali for instance.

The Pope is gangsta , of Italian stock who grew up in Latin America .
Scares off the evil partisan spirits like these

These US Supreme Court judges { catholics and republican} chose not to attend the Pope's appearence before Congress only to realize that his speech wasn't leaning too much to the Right or the Left{ they're accusing him of being a secret socialist}
