Looking at the video, 1st of all, there were too many cops at the scene.

Each one was probably giving their own instructions and this would confuse anyone, let alone a kid.

That cop who was standing in front of the kid, put himself in a harms way and escalated the situation.

Let the kid walk away, and follow him from a save distance.

They should have tased him, that would have been a better outcome.

He had a large knife, bystanders and police were telling him to drop it. The girl in the second vid kept telling him to just drop it. The guy recording the first vid was too far away to know or see what was happening clearly.

From the news link, it says the police tried non-fatal intervention several times but it did not work. When he lunged at one of the cops with the knife is when they opened fire. From the description and witness testimony it looks like they did everything they could but wallahi that was still so scary and fucked up.

The guy was clearly not a good place mentally.
