Ban Ki Moon term ends December, 2016

For over 70yrs, all UNSG were males.

Me personally, i think they should give it to someone from East Africa, or Somalia if possible.

Man or Woman, doesn't matter. As long as they are from Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya or Djibouti.

I would get rid of the Security Council , up and down votes like a parliament , every country should fund it proportional to its wealth .
Or a security council by continent with no veto but majority . Take Syria for example , what ca the rest of the world do against the Russian veto power ? Nothing ! The Russians who've decided to align themselves with 1 guy , can you believe that ?

Most countries are underdeveloped countries (Africa, most of Asia) with backwards political philosophies dominating their governments. It would be a terrible idea to give them complete democratic power over global policies.

The current system is perfect. US, UK, France, Russia, and China are a good balance for the security council.

Perhaps they could replace the UK and France with the EU. Since the UK and France are nowhere near as relevant to the world as they used to be.

They could be persuaded by their " godfathers" as it is currently the case , but most of the world is " EMERGING " . We need a global plateform that recognises that . Im okay with the EU "in lieu" of France and GB , countries like Germany or Sweden should be given a greater role , I agree.

Yep.

My bet is it is going to be a Western female this time.

Africans and Asians were given their turn.

I agree with you, out of 196 countries, only 5 countries can Veto everything and effectively run the show.

And they are all Cadaan nations.

China is not cadaan. They are culturally and politically very Asian oriented.

Russia has a long standing rivalry with the West. Russians barely operate along Western goals. Just look at what is going on in Syria, a big middle finger to the West. They are supporting the dictator the US and EU are trying to get rid off.

My bad, China isn't a Cadaan country. But no reason to have just 5 countries that can Veto everything.

More developing countries be given more power.

Of the non-cadaan countries, these are the only realistic options to include:

Japan - possible option.
India - possible option.
Brazil - too similar to the US when it comes to international relations.
Mexico - same as Brazil.
Indonesia - too poor.
Saudi Arabia - way too many countries against them.
Nigeria - too poor.
Turkey - US & Israel would hate that, unlikely to happen.

Egypt maybe.
South Africa maybe.

But Ethiopia, Jordan, Ghana have too small economies. You got to be economically relevant to matter in global affairs.
