The situation in ethiopia is very fragile...student demonstrations r taking place almost in every town outside of addis ababa. 6 students have been killed few days ago.

Ethiopia's economy is unbalanced, only 4 million of 94 million live in the capital while the rest live in shambles,

Having said that my own take is that Ethiopia is worried about Egypt and the geopolitics for the first time in a long time. There is a lot of uncertainties and very fast changes in the region.

In fact, the Muslim Brotherhood being in power in Egypt could have been beneficial for them but al Sisi has became their worst nightmatre. Before I know Ethiopia was fearful of Muslim elements but actually al Sisi was a far more dangerous man laying low.

Al Sisi is very clever politician and far superior thinker than the TPLF rulers in Ethiopia. Without Meles they are clueless.

Al Sisi restored relations with Israel so Ethiopia cannot cry crocodile tears or play the good old Falasha card on them. Al Sisi offer cannot be matched by anyone not even West to some extent.

Al Sisi blockades Iranian arms, he controls the Palestinian movement and smuggling...he diverts attention from Israel to other regions such as Yemen by advocating for "Arab pact or joint military force" with other Arab states such as Saudi Arabia.

The Saudis were never closer to Egyptians than today and know they going to need Egypt to confront Iran and Shia elements even in Yemen and Syria.

Egypt then asked KSA to summon Sudan over Yemen but secretly also isolate them from Ethiopia. Ever since Bashir visited KSA, Sudan has been giving Addis cold shoulders.
