Erigavo regional court has today sentenced Mr. Omar Ahmed Abdirahman to death after the court found him guilty of smuggling illegal Ethiopian nationals via Somaliland terriitorail waters.

Mr. Omar has confessed that he threw into the sea waters innocent passengers who were on boat and entered into Somaliland waters illegally.

The Ethiopian nationals were on board on a boat in which Somaliland coast guards rescued 72 while scores died during the risky journey into the war torn country of Yemen.

Mr. Mohamed Bashir Mohamed was found guilty and was sentenced to one year in jail and he should pay a fine of 15, 000 0000 Somaliland Shillings.

The court also passed a sentence whereby Mr. Mohamed Yasin Ali could face a three years imprisonment and he will pay a fine of up to 5 000 000 SL Shillings.

Only when your sentence is a year or less you can pay money to shorten it but you can't buy your sentence if you're on death row or anything over 1 year sentence!

They couldn't do that at the start they definitely cant do it now, because only three somali states ever received independence and now it's too late for that kenya and ethiopia have grown stronger since then, the only way forward is somaliland gets recognition then forms an alliance with djibouti and somalia to get back territories from ethiopia and kenya through peaceful means most likely disputing borders then instead of warfare take it to international court, when we have three un seats, three igad seats and three african union seats we have more power internationally instead relying djibouti to help somalia by itself.
