At least one person has been killed and two more wounded.
Even though the administration in Mogadishu, which controls only few blocks in the war-torn city, claimed it was investigating the cause.
The truth is the same very administration was behind the deliberate terrorist act, which was aimed at disabling the Daallo Airlines for good.
Daallo, even though registered under the Republic of Djibouti, is owned by a Somaliland native, Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim Yasin "Olad".
In recent weeks tensions has been rising between the Mogadishu administration, which heavily relies on African Union troops to keep it afloat, and the Government of the Republic of Somaliland.
One major issue has been Somalian residents in Somaliland and the Somalian passport documents. The Government of Somaliland ordered all Somalians living in Somaliland to acquire valid documents such as passports and visa so they may remain living in Somaliland legally. The Government warned anyone without documentation may face deportation back to their Somalia.
Hargeisa issued the same orders to Ethiopian nationals in Somaliland. Since the Government crack down, most Ethiopians have either registered themselves or voluntarily requested deportation citing they were unable to afford transportation.
However, those from Somalia have not lifted a finger claiming the orders did not apply to them since they were same ethnic as the locals thus showing little regard for statehood.
That forced Hargeisa to give them only seven days to either register or leave the country, which led to Mogadishu administration ordering complete end to flights between Hargeisa and Mogadishu.

Somalia’s Federal government has ordered all airlines operating between Mogadishu – Hargeisa route to halt their flights, as tensions between the Federal government and breakaway region of Somaliland grows, Horseed Media reports.
There is no official route between the two but both Daallo Airlines and Jubba Airways operate domestic flights. Daallo Airlines operates Djibouti-Hargeisa-Mogadishu route while Jubba used to operate Dubai-Berbera-Mogadishu route.
Both Somali carriers have been pushed aside by international carriers such as Ethiopian Airlines (Addis-Hargeisa), FlyDubai (Dubai-Hargeisa) and the Turkish Airlines (Istanbul-Khartoum-Mogadishu).
Due to their shrinking market they recently signed a MoU, however, they never merged.
When the Mogadishu administration ordered the overhaul of flights this week, Daallo Airlines refused to honor the call, citing business and politics should not mix.
That's when the Mogadishu administration plotted the terrorist act thus take Daallo out off action. One of the main motive is if Daallo does land in Hargeisa, the Government of Somaliland was ready to load her with thousands of unwanted Somalians sending them back to Mogadishu.
The Administration in Mogadishu is neither ready nor capable of handle the thousands of returnees. For this reason and its lack of abilities to truly terminate flights over Somaliland skies, it did the unthinkable of blowing Daallo Airlines from the skies above Balad, 21km northeast of Mogadishu airport.
This was a deliberate act of terrorism on behave of the administration in Mogadishu. As a result now Hargeisa does not have access to any airliner that can directly transport the 80,000 or so unwanted refugees from Somalia.
This act further deteriorates the already volatile relations between Hargeisa and Mogadishu. Mogadishu will be blocking independent investigators as well and the international community should have professional independent team on the ground especially when some of the wounded civilians are European citizens.

It's not clear how Hargeisa will respond to this act of terrorism by Mogadishu.
