I am confused

This Journal of African Societies,used to gather information from the african countries under British administration for study and research,in this particular edition there was a section about Somalis regarding the somali tribal law,particularly the Dia,blood money or compensation.

In one incident, a man called farah went to the British judge to make a case on behalf of his son who got injured, and to the surprise of the judge the defendant was the wife of farah, the funny thing is that farah wanted his wife's family ,qabil, to pay for his son's wound.
