So as allah said in Assuraa 42:49-50, its a possibility that some people can be barren. So how can you prepare now for old age without children if you happened to be the chosen one for not having children.
Should you accumulate wealth to hire people to help you, should you raise other people's children who will help you in the future, should you ignore it and just see how life goes.

God only knows what is khair for each of others. if you read surat kahaf today you know the khdr and mus As story. he killed a child cause his parents were good people and that kid would give them hard time. so God wanted to give him better ones(s).

every time i read i wonder, how those parents got sad their child dead and cry for him, they didnt know , his death was good thing for them.

just ask what is khair for you, kids or without kids.

If Allah has decreed for you to be childless, then you can rest assured that it is a blessing for you. For whatever Allah has decreed for a person, there is a blessing in that thing, even if it appears to be bad on the surface. Just like the story Hyperactive quoted about the young boy who was killed by Khidir.

Of course any test we face from Allah we have to face it with patience and the reward will soon follow. In regards to preparing for a life of childlessness, then remember that the one who has decreed for you to be childless has also a plan for you in regards to your future. Who knows if you will even reach old age. If you do then surely there is a way out for you. Why not adopt an orphan and bring them up in the best way you can, with an Islamic focus. Those who help orphans will be close to the prophet PBUH in Jannah. You should also try to stay in shape, eat a healthy diet, so that you may stay fit and strong well into your old age if Allah wills.

That is not upto you. Your lack of imaan is sad and disappointing. Allaah swt WHO created you from fetus to this idiot typing on the PC already made plans for you. Live your life and appreciate Allaah swt for everything else you have. Don't wish for something u don't have. There are people who gave birth to 10 children, and they died in their 50s---what does that say? A waste? No, it is Allaah swt willing. Jazaak Allaah.
