there are like 15 girls from Abaarso that are in U.S universities/Colleges. There are several in IVY school. Also bunch of boys as well. I just hope they can come back and contribute to their homeland.

That's never going to happen unfortunately, it takes something special for someone to go back and help, even more so with such rampant corruption and disorders all over the place, why get your hands dirty when you can have it easy, chilled and send a few bucks home ?

Remittance is our biggest problem, it's making people dependent and lazy, the next generation will not be sending remittance like we do, then your going to see a revival, but before that take place, there will be a lot of people dying from poverty. $500 million on Khaat is ridiculous paid for 90% by remittance.

I am hoping the new educated generation can put an end to khat addiction because they're aware of its dangers, and once the aging ruling elites die off, they can perhaps take the reigns and steer this thing onto the proper direction. I have hope still.

Great news

I have always wondered why there is an uptake of Somaliland students in ivy league universities and US schools in general but so far very little from Russell Group and/or UK universities, seems strange given historical links between SL schools and UK HE institutions.
