He is a civilian in the defense department. The job of spear heading an attack belongs to military officers in the field.

Would you rather we regurgitate the same old faces of the last 60 years or keep bringing failures from the diaspora carrying a misplaced superiority complex. I think its about time the young, able, up and coming people in our country were empowered and given an opportunity to take part.

If he was a member of a "village council responsible for collection of rubbish and tax" at least he was contributing to his society and its people. Its no reason to belittle him.

If it was that easy, many of our arm chair politicians would be holding position in various regional governments. I think it takes certain fortitude and lack to get his position.

you don't really have to be a general or colonel to be defence minister, progressive countries normally institute civilians in defence minister post.
A lot of you should learn to differentiate between the professional military wing and the civillian wing
