Somali mother loses her last child in UK ...

Post by Rambie »

After she dumped her kids in Somalia.

A mother whose children were subjected to physical abuse after she dumped them with relatives in Somalia has failed in a bid to block the adoption of her youngest.

The woman, who lives in the Teesside area, lost custody of her son and two daughters in December last year, after a family judge ruled she had not done enough to protect them.

The judge ordered that the two eldest children, who are both teenagers, should remain in foster care.

However, her youngest daughter - who is not yet two - was placed for adoption.

The mother today challenged the decision to permanently remove the toddler from her care at the Court of Appeal, in London.

In a last-ditch attempt to stop the adoption, the mother’s lawyers argued the family judge didn’t properly consider all of the alternative options, or the fact she was severing the child’s bond with her siblings.

They said the judge could have taken the ‘less draconian option’ of placing the child with long-term foster parents, so that she could maintain contact with her mother and siblings.

They also said the little girl - whose mother is Muslim - has ‘cultural and religious’ needs which may not be met if she was adopted.

But, rejecting the mother’s appeal bid, Lord Justice McFarlane said the child needed to grow up in a stable environment and that foster care for such a long time would not be in her best interests.

He added: “Placing a child who is not yet two in foster care for the whole of her childhood would have to be justifed by exceptional circumstances, because of the impact it would have on her.”

The judge told the court the mother had gone on holiday to visit her family in Somalia and, while there, left the children with relatives.

Social workers from the UK eventually had to launch a rescue bid to get the children back, after discovering they had been physically abused.

Following a hearing at Middlesbrough family court, a judge decided the children would be better off away from their mother, as she was ‘fundamentally unable’ to meet their needs.

Those needs included their physical safety, emotional warmth and nurturing, said Lord Justice McFarlane.

Dismissing the case, he added: “It was a big decision for the judge, but I am satisfied that she weighed up all the options in a careful and considered way when reaching the conclusion that, for this very young child’s benefit, she needed to be securely placed in a home outside her family - with no ongoing direct contact with her mother or her siblings.

“I am satisfied therefore that there are no reasonable prospects of success on appeal.”

Well, if the mother told the social services (council in UK) that she does not know where the father is in order to collect cayr, and the taxpayers' money were used to raise those kids, the deadbeat father can't just suddenly show up and claim them.

I remember this case in Atlanta, GA where a Somali father beat his son after he misbehaved in school. The children services found out and took the kid. The Somali father challenged them in court, and claimed that this is his son, he works, his family does not collect welfare, and he has every right to discipline his child. He went further and told the judge that he does not know who these people (the child services) are when they have no part in his child's upbringing. The conservative white judge agreed with him and told him "not only can you whip your child at home, you can also whip him in my court."

Not raising your children on welfare makes all of the difference!

This is occuring more and more in our communities. Blame high divorce rates and poor financial planning.

The way I see it is,

If you raised your kid with hard earned money, than you'll certainly make sure it doesn't go waste.
But if you raised em with taxpayers money, it won't make difference to you wither your kid is doing good or bad.

I remember a family in Norway that had all of their children taken away. This was despite the fact that both parents had good jobs with a stable income. They also owned a big home.

This has nothing to do with welfare and none of you even know what that Somali mothers circumstances are. For all you know she could be in full time work struggling and a single mother at the same time.

This stories just go to show how tyrannical the government is becoming. There are new measures that soon will be cracking down on homeschooling and the leader of the SNP party in Scotland will be enforcing compulsory guardians from the NHS for each child. You can rest assured this will be coming to the rest of the UK!

I don't think having someone official appointed to every child is a bad idea. I remember in holland I was talking to a social worker at school. When she found out I didn't have any hobbies after school, she threatened my parents. I ended up playing at a local football club on the weekends instead of larking about in the park. It was only a 100 guilder for the year, so not an extorionate amount.

Exactly. I am so proud of you abti Cherine that you found the formula where you will never throw out your husband. I say more power to you.

The other thing that is going for you is, since your children are grown ups, you don't have to worry about gaalo coming and taking your kids; however, for those of us with younger kids, we have to be careful here.

Still, I want to thank you for the great comment!

Waxaa macquul ah in ay tahay alcoholic ama Niman cabsan ay guriga keento. Remember they said she did not do enough to protect the other ones. I have seen a woman who used to smoke shisha and brings all the khat addicts and inta allah nacay home even though her daughters were 15 and 14. We were neighbors. I traced down their father who was a truck driver and called him anynormously with blocked phone and explain to him everything. Alxamdulillaah he came back and went to the child protection agency and told them about how his daughters are in physical and health risk. They came to the building pretending to be maintenance and planted a camera on the door to track down. They found proof and the father was giving to the girls. He left tracking business and started driving limousine. When he won his kids, I went to him and told him about me. He was so happy and cried that I stood up for him. He told me to look for him if I ever wanted to marry as he will give me Gabar dhulbahante ah :) I was married that time and told him not to sell me out.
