When do you think the Somali civil war will end
The ongoing conflict started in 1991 is still active in many parts of Somalia we went from warlords toppling general Afweyne to warlords fighting each other to a period where there was no government at all. from 1994 up to 1999, Than in 2000 the first TNG government abdi qasbaye had to return to a warlodistic Mogadishu and could not deliver at all. the civil war continued than we had the legendary Cabdilahi Yusuf Axmed who did became the Somali transitional federal government president, he tried to move the capital to Baydhabo his brother got killed in the first ever suicide bombing, Jihadist from the Islamic courts union emerged wanting to build a sharia law based country Ethiopia invaded destroyed ICU alshabaab came muqaawamo followed. TFG was given a bit more legitimacy sharif loo gamay ba madaxweyne laga dhigay the United states supported him to split the jihadist group yet he could not deliver. Former Jihadists became clan leaders later during the fight against shabaab Axmed madoobe and even sh indhocade became part of the government in Mogadishu.
The clan wars in central regions is still raging on the hawiye darood divide is still deep no reconciliation what so ever after 24 years of war , I predict that with new clan states popping out clan states will fight each other using their own militia Alshabaab will try to use different clan states to further their agenda there will be a 2 way parallel of instability in Somalia the tribal factor and the jihadi facto, those two will try to out do each other the tribal demeanor will be used to antagonize neighboring clans or to further the agenda of the tribal state and that of the clan the Jihad element will be used to gain AID from the west every clan state will claim to fight alshabaab at the same time use Alshabaab to gain leverage against the neighboring clan. So what u guys think will happen in the next 25 years In Somalia , presidential selections are not that interested really because they cant really change anything on the ground.

Re: When do you think the Somali civil war will end
Hopefully, in our lifetime. I have high hopes for my nation.
It could possibly end if someone genuinely wanted to lead the Somali people, end corruption and qabilism, and build the country.
As long as you have HSM etc as "president", we won't see any changes.
I want to see some revolutions happens. Mass demostrations, protest, political groups like SYL. 25 years, and they have brought nothing but war, and suffering to our nation and people.
We miss you Barre.
Let the youth lead. We need some changes.

Re: When do you think the Somali civil war will end
I think that the somali civil war has already come to an end, yes there are some elements such as al-shb and they are on their last days and sooner then later will die out, now clearly there will be a long time-line until we get some sort of a strong somali govt honestly i dont think we'll see it in our generation, we havent even got a functioning millitary, and our economy is next to a joke, clanism isnt gonna go because we somalis enjoy thats the truth, but maps have been drawn up weather we like it or not we all know our place in the map and no one can trespass and for that we will have a babysitter from the IC who will watch over us,ppl are already mooving on and everyone is busy with developing thier states and ppl are also mooving back and contributing.
Re: When do you think the Somali civil war will end
The civil war ended a long time ago
only problem is Shabaab and those who deny Bakool Sare state

Where and when did it end who made peace was the reconciliation conference was there a truce I believe galkacyo is still divided and there was a big war few months ago killing over sixty people, the civil war is still ongoing jus there is no peace and no war situation in some places more than others , alshabaab is not the problem if today alshabaab and amisom left what do u think would happen to kismayo hawiye indho cascas would send shaati gduduud there to invade it Barre hiiraale will try to wipe out the ogaden, and Habargedir will try to re take Muqdishu from the abgaal. Alshabaab is a smokes screen. imagine if there was a sacad president in Mogadishu what would happen to galkacyo. There was a clan war in Hiiraan just days ago what about the war in lower shabelle. Horda dadkinan maad indho laa dihin who say the civil war ended who the hell won the civil war if the civil war ended?

Sacad waa gob. They have every right to be leaders of the country they gave independence to.

Re: When do you think the Somali civil war will end
Zoomalia war will not anytime soon in the forseeable future because when someone is in war with his own self it usually doesn't end until host is completely dead.

Nubian, clanism is so deeply embedded in the Somalis mentality so it doesn't matter who the president is.NubianQueen97 wrote:Hopefully, in our lifetime. I have high hopes for my nation.

Clanism existed during barre regime aswell, hence him being overthrown.
And Somalia doesn't need another Barre, a dictator who executed and jailed people for disagreeing with his politics( dictatorship)
And to top it off, Barre was the man who changed Surat al Nisa, I hope you understand the severeness of someone changing a Surah sent to us by God in the holy Quran.

Re: When do you think the Somali civil war will end
It will take a while for the civil war to end.
To much ego going around. the wars have died out however animosity fear and clan competition is ever growing.
We need suldaan and nabadoon as prime minister and president in order to pass the reconciliation phase. Because the current politicians can not cross over this line and the reconciliation process is more important than economics health and education all put together.
I can't see this happening anytime before 2050 right after ww3

Halyeey Cabdullahi Ciise Maxamuud soo nin Sacad Siciid Habargidir maaha?
Ninki Halgankii Soomaalida Xornimada ku heshay iyo calanka maanta Soomaalidu harsanayso soo maaha.
Xoolo iska nool baa tahay waxna ogid ee afkaaga naga xir.
As for Xamar beesha Habargidir have 6 mayors. Mudulood and Habargidir are walaalo Hiraab Isla ah. It doesn't matter if there is Habargidir mayor or Abgaal mayor it is still Dhul Hiraab like Shabellaha Hoose and most of south and Central Somalia.

Changing the quran? It's a big accusation. I would like to see evidence. Thanks Susu.
As far as the equal rights etc, I agree with Barre, and I'm grateful to see that we had someone fighting for the rights of women and minorities back then. He was fighting for equal rights for women, As a feminist, I can't thank him enough for that.
I'm not intending to derail the topic, so it would be last comment about this, I'm not saying he was a saint, but I would much rather live under Barre, where we still had some sort of dignity, pride, and peaceful nation, than live in Mogdishu after he left from (1990-2016) where traitors, thieves, moryanism, war, amisom, Alshabab, and now the government have stooped so low that they are pimping somali women to arabs, can't secure peace in their own capital, and being ruled by our neighbors. Uff. We can't compare it all. That speaks volumes, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. What happened ???
