Farthest on the right the legendary Allan Gibb.

I won't delve on the long career of Allan Gibb in Somaliland , he spent over 19 years and spoke fulent Somali , the longest officer serving in the protectorate, his Daratoole , Jidbaale and the conquest of Taleex Fort along with Xaaji Muuse Faarax and the tribal levy led by the 13 Caaqils on February 1920 is among his exploit , the only major engagement he missed was the battle of Dul Madobe he was away in leave , along Xaaji Muuse Faarax Igre both of them never missed a single Dervish confrontations. For a short bio of his career , read :

My concern is his death , on early 1922 Somaliland's governor Jeffery Archer along with some educated Somalis attempted to institute a schooling system in the protectorate , and to support such scheme, taxes had to be levied. Most of the tribes agreed to the head-tax ( livestock). The Habar Yoonis in general and in particular the Burco Habar Yoonis objected to the taxes.

On February 1922 , Jeffery Archer came to Burco to meet with the District commissioner Allan Gibb and Xaaji Muuse Faarax to device a plan to force or convince the Burco resident to agree to the schooling scheme and pay the required taxations. In the other side the Habar Yoonis sultan then Sultan Madar Xirsi Diiriye convened a meeting of all Habar Yoonis chief caaqils , Axmed Jaamac shire , Maxamed Col U Joog, Cawd Khuurshe , Xaaji Maxamed Bulaale a.k.a Xaaji Waraabe and others. All Habar Yoonis Caaqils agreed to reject the taxations , sultan Madar then planned to convey the message to jeffory Archer . Just before he left Xaaji Waraabe spoke and said " Listen sultan , do not trust these Caaqils , as soon as you tell the Gaal you rejected the taxations they will backtrack and conterdict you" Sultan Madar paid no attention to Xaaji Waraabe, that's one version , the other version is only the reer Sugulle objected to the taxations and the rest of the Habar Yoonis agreed with it.

Whatever version is right in any events a shootout took place with in the Habar Yoonis assembly , between those who opposed the taxations and those who rejected it. Allan Gibb who was in a meeting with Jeffery Archer and Xaaji Muuse Faarax left his compound to ascertain the matter , he ordered the Somaliland Camel corps to clam down on the disturbance , the Camel Corps which was made of Indians and Somalis , the last mutinied only the Indian who was managing the maxim gun opened fire , and some armed reer Sugulle returned fired and shot Allan Gibb dead. After the disturbance , Archer requsted tow airplanes from Aden , to fly over the town and ordered the reminaing Camel Corps and other forces to burn the entire town to the ground and leave only the mosque intact , and he imposed a 3000 camel fines on the Habar Yoonis.

Yawle years later retelling the incident to his good friend and poem memorizer Cawl , said he was in Tififle ( close to laas Caanood) with 300 heads that haven't been watered for 29 days, when the news came that every well was guarded by camel corps forces , ilaalos and local police , he didn't know what to do with the thirsty camels on their 31st day of no water. His favorite she-camel good out of thirst began to groan , he said I took another she camel and milked her and gave the milk which was full of froth and no liquid to Good and she took tow swigs and began to groan again , and then I had to tell her what took place for she had no news of the events. He began to rely the news to Good,

Haday garan lahayda geyiga waxa ka dhacay Good ma olosheene
Gulaan iyo biyo iyo raaxo gu'an ma doonteene
Gorgor duulaya iyo waa dayuur guuxa baxayaaye
Niman goondhariina ku lumay gacan Islaameed
Giibtaas uun bay hayaan goor iyo ayaane
Godka lagu cadaabyow maxaa u geeyay habar Yoonis
Gashigiisu badanaa ma anakaa guunyaba u hayna.

That's a long poem I just remember that now , then he continued again with another letter.

Ceel Xumiyo Oodweyne waa laga carceeraaye
Kala carartay Habar yoonistii calanku saarnaaye
Dhamaan cali siciid iyo Ugaadh Cuurka baho oo dhan
Cigaal aadan, Muusa Cabdalliyo curubti reer Beyle
Cabdalliyo kaliil kama cabbaan ceelashii Bogoxe
Cilmi Qabille waa kaa ka raray xalay Cadaadleeye
Ceeg kuma furaan reer Xuseen ama Caleen weyne
Xirsi Bari wuxuu ciirayaa cidhifki Doolloode
Caynaanshihii Wadhan fadhiyey Caado kor u dhaafye
Laba Muuse ceerigan dhaxay caas la oloshaaye
Haddaan caawa nabad kuu ogahay kuma canaadeene
Cugcug kuuma oodeen sidii cuud ammaana ahe
Candhadiyo mudkaaguna sidii calal ma duubmeene
Sidii cududa gaab nimuu kelyaa calaliyoo jiidhay
Cidhin waxan la jiifaaba waa cadhiyo waabay e
Candhagoyseyohow hayga ridin col iyo haadaane
Sidaan caasi kaa galay ha qubin caano koob le'ege
Cunimaysid deegaan intuu Caarshe noolyahaye

In his brief to the British cabinet and to Churchill , Jeffery Archer alluded to the 5 killers but chose to keep it a secret until their apprehension , I only found a brief by Winston Churchil summarizing the incident from Jeffory Archer's dispatches to cabinet, from the UK national archives. I uploaded it as a pdf file below, most Isaaq assume Faacuul Aden Juglle was the killer but they were five suspects, he could be among them.
