Djibouti + southern Somalia on Berbera Port deal

Post by AwRastaale »

Both southern Somalia and Djibouti remained very silent about the port deal between Somaliland and DP World until yesterday.

Puntland media such as Garowe Online and Horseed Media reported on the early days even though Garowe tried to twist things by injecting Abdirahman Borreh.

While Horseed media was impartial and legit reporting. KUDOS to them.

At least they showed their colours from the get go.

The souther waited until 'something went wrong'. When they saw some teenagers burning tyres in Berbera-------they were quick to take it to their blogs. Hiiraan Online was all over it.

Now Djibouti media:

The southern views:

None of them will comment when the high-techs arrive including modern cranes.

It has potential to be bigger than Mogadishu but it will be few decades before it can compete with Djibouti.

The thing Berbera and SL have over Djibouti is land.

Whatever the case it's clear Djib will come under the Chinese and UAE needs new ports to keep its interests in Africa. Naturally that meant going few hundred km down.

The port is done deal and this weekend SL n DP sign official hand over.

A delegation including Saad Ali Shire and Horhor left SL today for Dubai.

Within a year a new terminal will be completed worth $170m.

Djibouti is many decades ahead but now it will have some competition unlike the 1980 port we currently have.

Why are the youths protesting?
Just focus on your own port for once. :)

The Chinese just seem to be attracted to Africa.

The Chinese want to correct their historical mistakes.

Long before the Europeans built any sea worthy ships apart from the Viking boats, Chinese explorers sail the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

Before the rise of the Portuguese and Spaniard maritime capabilities, the Chinese Muslim explorer, Zheng He, was visiting places like the Somali coast.

He advised the Ming dynasty to build him a naval force so he can expand the silk road beyond the lands of Indo-China and central Asia.

The emperor at the time laughed at him.

As we will come to discover few centuries later the Europeans would encircle, invade and dominate China by the ocean.

So China will heavily invest in naval bases, navy and strong foreign based dock and launching stations.

Let's see if this ignites yet another cold war.

The US is still the supreme unit.

China is the new USA man. They'll surpass USA in only a decade or two.

It won't be long before they start an Iraq War in somewhere like Vietnam.

Not really.

China is at least three decades behind the US in many fields and economically it won't over take the US.

China's economy has stalled and no longer growing at double digit.

China could have advanced faster if they had good relations with Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.

Furtheremore it now has many angry neighbours.

The US has many more cards on China and the worst nightmare is allowing Japan to rebuild its military know-how. Even the US is worried about Japan so it's limiting its abilities.

US is re-arming all the neighbours and supporting India's space programme.

Yesterday India launched 20 satellites into space at once.
India has successfully launched 20 satellites in a single mission, the most in the history of the country's ambitious space programme.

They include satellites belonging to the United States, Canada, Germany and Indonesia.

The launch took place from the Sriharikota space centre off India's east coast.

Observers say it is a sign that India is emerging as a major player in the multi-billion dollar space market.

The record for the most number of satellites launched in a single mission belongs to Russia, which sent up 37 satellites in 2014. The US space agency Nasa launched 29.

As Indian scientists and government ministers kept a close watch, the rocket carrying 20 satellites blasted off from the launch facility in Andhra Pradesh state.

The payload included devices ranging in weight from more than 700kg to as little as 1.5kg.

They include an Indian cartographic satellite as well as those belonging to the country's universities and international customers - 13 satellites are from the US, including one made by a Google-owned company.

'Wonderful life'

The BBC's Sanjoy Majumder in Delhi says it is a significant moment for India's space programme which has recorded a number of achievements including sending probes to the Moon and Mars.

Launching several satellites in a single mission reduces cost and India has been positioning itself as a key player in the lucrative international commercial space market as an effective but low cost operator, our correspondent says.

they even muted the video when they were talking how sad and low of them. djib are sneaky but the type of people you could see them coming a mile away. If such videos are roaming in their media it shows the fear state and intimidation they have.

Boreh is a financial pimp. He pimped Djibouti and when he got booted out the lady next door fell under his charms and bang he got her.

The real winner is Boreh.

The government need to educate Reer Bebera before anything take place.
Imagine an engineer or foreign worker being shot, DP will pack up and leave
