Need Info.: Somali Region of Ethiopia (DDSI)

Post by Jabuutawi »

I was watching few video clips about the government structure in degaanka Somalida ee Itobiya. I need to ask anyone who has visited the area recently few questions.

Can you buy land, any size, with no additional strings attached other than buyer/seller relations?

One of the video clips said madaxweyna kuxigeenka, Abdihakim Igal Omar, is also wasirka howlaha guud iyo horumarinta magaloyinka. In other words, any piece of land development and business start-up one has to go through his office.

How many VPs are there? Clan breakdown?

Lastly, wasirka qurbajoogta, Abdi Khalif Burale, is he Dir or Darood?

Anywhere there is a mountain view or a lake/river view. Definitely Dira Dhabe (or nearby area with greenery) and Jigjiga, of course. Compared to Djibouti prices, I say it will still be a bargain. How much per acre? I want to buy several acres in the city and outside the city.

Brother, this is the best time to invest in Jigjiga if you have resources and the financial capabilities. Compared to Djibouti city, I know Jigjiga and Dire Dawa are bargain, but you gotta remember that the pace of development in Jigjiga is so fast that prices are spiking up daily on lands. I can tell you that 20X20 meters lot inside jigjiga today is selling over 20,000 US Dollars. The city is growing so fast that soon it will reach the Kaara Mardha mountains. If you buy 20X20 land for 20,000, expect at least 40,000 dollars to build a good villa. The Diaspora community is making life difficult for the locals and are responsible for the price spikes. Actually, Dire Dawa is much cheaper these days especially Sabian area.

Let me add that my numbers are from 2014 when I was there. The lot prices could double that amount now. It used to be Dire Dawa for the Djibouti Xagaa bax destination but due to the hot weather in Dire Dawa in the Xagaa, Jigjiga has become the destination for Reer Djibouti. And of course there lots of Reer Djibouti people are local to the city including the vice president.

Jigjiga is the most expensive city in the Kilil right now if buying a land. there are conditions as well if you're buying a land. You have to be a native or have a family there. as for Cabdi khaliif he is Ogaden reer cabdille, reer warfaa.

I was told that the Debub people have a presence in Qabridahare now, in a vey large number, to the extent where they are on the verge of overwhelming the natives! Is that accurate? I also heard they are mostly men!

It is true, in the past they overwhelmed the cities, but now things are changing. they are not allowed now to pass yegleleh which is between Jigjiga and Dhagaxbuur where there's a big checkpoint for an ID check and bag search. anyone not Somali with ID can hardly pass. most of them have been deported to their regions. The only city they still are is Jigjiga. If they have no legit business in the city they will be on the next car going out of the zone. Qabri-dahar is clean now from Dabuubs, the police beat them mercilessly for any excuse to drive them out of kilil cities.

Useful information fellows.

Bro., lot sizes are big, you can add a third level as veranda/balcony, what a view then. Even today less than $100,000 to buy lot and build, good information.
Fiiq and Ceel Karre have mountain view and are extremely cheap but very baadiye.

Ceel Karre even has a waterfall :wow:
Waterfall? Awesome! Anywhere close to water, I think of crocodiles and African pythons...lool. Seriously though, small towns don't cut for me. I want to be close to a big city, Dira Dhabe and Jigjiga will do, both have airports too.
if buying a land. there are conditions as well if you're buying a land. You have to be a native or have a family there
I was not born there but many of my immediate family members have. I am wondering if you need actual documents to prove as such. Some uncles/aunts (both sides) live there. I am sure none was born in a hospital (during Haile Selaisse/Mengistu days), but they can vouch for me.

Glad to see many, if not most, people want peace and development over war. We just need to be ready for any eventuality should Ethiopia breakup. We need to be ready for hordes of vengeful Oromos and intoxicated and bitter Amharas trying to numerically overwhelm us.
