''In my notice of the western Somali tribes, I have made use of the word 'Edoor' to distinguish the descendants of Isaaq from those of his fellow-countrymen Darrood, but it may be as well to observe that the western tribes are averse to the appellation, and invariably correct the person who styles them Edoor, by telling them that the Edoor are the Oromo tribes.
The Majeerteen Somalis told me that the Oromo family into which Shaykh Isaaq married was called ''Durr,'' and from that is derived the name of ''Edoor,'' and the Haber Gerhajis, on the other hand, retaliate by quoting ''Darrood'' as an offshoot from the same pagan source.''

Isaaq married from the Habasha most likely Amhara habar habusheed this is the oldest record we have . it is not edoor it is IIDOOR idoor means in the somali language choose for me what does it mean in Oromo language. Waachis the Darood have more Waaq name in their genealogy the Darood have around 8 sub clans called waaq, Isaaq and Hawiye and dir have non the Darood are the closest Related to Oromo. Habartiwaaq is a subclan of ogaden Jidwaaq is a sub clan of Absame daarood clan. Takal waaq are also Darood. Cabuudwaaq are Ogaden Darood., there is also a town in the central Somalia called Abud waaq it is settled 99 percent by Darood. The only darood 2 sub clans who have no waaq in their genealogy are the wasakhgali and the Dhulbahante. IDOOR was given to Isaaq a nick name it means trader it was given to the Isaaq merchants in the 18 century the Kabadha iidoor it is true the darood gave the name to isaaq but kabadhe iidoor means the trader the Businessmen, it has little to do with oromo.

i was told issaq married a harla which was mistaken to be habesha. the oromos were not in the region for shaykh issaq to intermarry with oromo. the harla were found in north somalia and they survive somewhat today as harari. as a harari i can tell you durr means a womans private part in my language.
