Boosaaso Port Deal Stalls..

Post by barbarossa »

Hundreds of people taking to the streets right now, protesting against the recently signed port deal. Soldiers firing shots in the air in an attempt to disperse the protesters who are marching towards the port ground. This is the developing story, so there are no casualty figures as of yet, but judging from the amounts of shots being fired, there may be quite a few.

Majertein troll no need to mention Berbera in here. Focus on making dua for your people.

Berbera was never same as Bosaaso. Not same deal from same corporate.

Not same protest and certainly no one killed each others in Berbera.

In Berbera casual workers protested (xogmaal) and in Bosaaso it’s the traders (ganacsade).

There’s ongoing work in Berbera and equipments for the port but looks like P&O has no tourists for Bosaaso.

It will eventually cool down, P&Q is in the right here not the businessman.

The prices for docking have gone up and honestly speaking, it needed to long ago, dp world is a business and only sees profit so if they choose to put the prices up, no one can stop them because they leased the port "remember".

these protests won't go far.

I am currently here in Boosaaso, and witnessed the protests first hand. Just did not want to speculate on casualties as the events were still in progress when i posted the thread.

It was expected when you sign deals that does not take the people into considerations but only exist to fatten the pockets of politicans like Gaas.

Reer Bosasso is just mad because DP world didn't want to offer them a deal, instead it's small subsidiary and independently ran company P&O Ports offered them a much shittier deal . Still Bosasso should take it as PL is a underdeveloped wasteland.

Besides in light of the recent truck bombing in Bosasso I bet P&O Ports is rethinking the whole deal. Bosasso is on the verge of breaking into chaos like a mogadishu 2.0

Also a lot of Al shabaab supporters are protesting the deal because a lot of Al shabaab weaponry comes thru Bosasso Port largely because it is much horribly ran than Berbera Port , but also Bosasso Port has always been cheaper to use than Berbera Port. The biggest reason though is because they have to drive the weaponry down to the South and they can't drive thru SL without SL plates without raising suspicion, and also vice versa if they drive through Somalia with SL plates it brings suspicion. So they like to operate in Bosasso so as not to raise suspicion. Shabaab knows if P&O takes control of port they gonna be cut off from their weapon supplier , Qatar, so they just gonna start blowing up busy Bosasso streets (like the truck bombing recently ) to scare them off.

The Bosasso deal pales in comparison to the Berbera one. There is no correlation in Bosasso they got a shitty deal not even from DP World but one of it's small subsidiary companies that it bought not too long ago. P&O doesn't have the same new state of the art Port equipment that DP world has.

Also the Berbera deal was more than just a Port it's a military base deal meaning new weaponry and training for the SL security forces. SL security forces are already better than PL or Somalia security forces, this will just make them professional unlike rag tag militia's masquerading as PL or Zoomalia security forces but also the deal includes infrastructure upgrades. Already in Berbera a $2 million dollar water treatment upgrade project has been started. They will upgrade and expand Hargeisa airport. They will completely remodel Berbera airport. Job training for thousands of Port and Airport Workers. Roads and all of that is included. Already the Berbera deal is spuring development but your mind is clouded by hate and jealousy.

Bosasso didn't get a deal anywhere close to that. Just to expand Bosasso Port . PL gave full control of Bosaso port to P&O Ports they didn't even keep a ownership stake in the 30 years they gave P&O world control. At least SL kept a ownership stake and also Ethiopia bought an ownership stake in Berbera Port from UAE's ownership stake in Berbera Port , Ethiopia has pledged more economic ties with SL in the form of trade and Infrastructure partnerships. A country with a population of about 100 million people will now largely abandon Djibouti port and bring majority of it's business thru SL which means more tax collection for SL also.

If you still think Bosaso got a deal anywhere close to as good as the one SL got you are smoking something.
