A look back at how the kind Oromos welcomed the Somalis to the Juba River

Post by Waachis »

''The Somalis arrived in the Juba region after the Oromos, and they were welcomed by the Oromos. R.E. Salkeld, provincial commissioner in British East Africa (Kenya), who visited the region in December 1913, writes:

The Somalis had been preceded by the Oromos, and these two peoples, who are so closely akin that it is impossible to tell an Oromo from a Somali, appear to have now occupied all the available territory in Jubaland and Tanaland adapted to their characteristics as nomadic stock-owners.

Beyond the Juba River around Mombasa and the Malindi coast of the Indian Ocean, there was also assimilation of the Pokomo, the largest group in the Tana Province of Kenya, into the Oromo. Among the Pokomo around the Tana River, Oromo culture is strongly evident. A. Werner observed in the late 1860s that a branch of the Pokomo already had adopted the Oromo language and the Oromo 'Gadaa' government.''

the first somalis are the Ogadens, and the oroma you speak of were forced to assimilate them, my ancestors frteed them from oromo bause and slavery, we gave them back their rights and languages,

most oroma are assimilated ones forced to learn oromo langauges, yall act so innocent waachis, but yall have killed so many tribes and races over the centures and forced them to adopt their langauges, these somalis dont know you but I as Ogaden border you, fought you for centuries and know the true nature of oromoa, waa aggressive as hell and dangerous ,

yall play maskiin and nice, yall have forced many dirs in ethiopia to adopt your langauge and culture, but Ogaden is ready to defend himself,

you can assimilate all the dirs/samaroon and karanle you want, since they are in your land you can do as you wish, but the dirs under my protection are under my protection since i am their regional president,

there is a border between us protected by lead.

The Oromos who used to live there are the Orma- Warda(warday or warra dayya) Oromos. Those who kept their lineage and Oromo name became the Orma in the Tana region of Kenya. Those who have been assimilated and became Somali are the Warday.

To teeri :
When did I say oromo were perfect.
Somalia gave birth to one of the worst terrorist groups ever, remember, yet we don't generalize all Somalis.
The oromo assimilated and got assimilated, just like most nations in the horn of Africa or east Africa, it's just that they had an ingenious method for it. Assimilation is what made our nation large and able to survive while fighting both Muslim and Christian kingdoms who were armed by outsiders. While the oromo only had spears, daggers, horses, and their brave hearts. And we still managed to get the greenest land in the horn. The lands that all our neighbors look at with the envious evil eyes. We don't need to take dry nomad land from u, sorry, it's u who dreams of rich oromo farm land so u can eat. Oromos are generous though even when poor we share what we have. So no need to be envious, just buy our products.
We also have no problems with Somalis just with abdi illey and his slaves who kill and die for tigray.
Oromo believe there are no border between us ask onlf how their fighters sometimes seek shelter in oromia and how they're treated.

To jabutawi :
Somali ain't superior or inferior to oromo.
There's nothing wrong with being of oromo origin.
Khalid is an idiot who blames all southern Somali for the crimes of a regime that hasn't existed since 1991. That alone makes him a fuxking idiot. He claims to be closer to habasha yet the habasha don't feel the same.

Landmass does not equate power. Israel has on lock 300 million Arabs, and it is smaller than Djibouti, so is Kuwait. A bit of geography for you tonight. We have you on lock. Is that why you were asking with desperation for us to join you to counter others in Ethiopia, lol. What is in it for us? Nothing. Beesha qaran ee barakaysan lives in three countries, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Somalian, while you are boxed into a triangle by others.

You know what else was on lock, your clan drinking cow blood all 3 square meals, as documented by a Chinese traveler to Berbera. Naked savages, too. You sold the only 'asset' you had to merchant ships for a piece of cloth to wrap around yourselves...pitiful bunch.

Waachis, you have already absorbed many Somalis when you invaded our lands, Silte and Arsi oromo are originally Somali, not only are they Somali but they come from the Noble family among Somalis, you have taken Bali form us, it was Somali sultanate, you have no shame if you try to claim jubaland in 2018.

The real Oromo are our enemies, the Abo Oromo are our descendants who have been absorbed into Oromo culture, we will let it go, since you have corrupted them, however do not claim more of our land

Silte are not Somali and neither are the Arsi. Silte is a branch from gurage. They originate in the highlands.

Arsi is a mixture of Oromo and Hadiyya(really small ethnic group today) and a little mixture of Sidamas. In the old days Arsi would say we are 2 clans - Arsi & Hadiya. Today they are all mixed so everyone almost has Oromo and Hadiya amongst them. Bali was a Hadiya kingdom, not Somali.

I think arsi is related to degodia . I met a few arsi they are very anti habasha. Something common with many somali I think arsi are an ancient samaale clan arsi means vengence In somali. They look somali to tall Brown skin. They are Muslim shafici suni they look like Somalis not like oromos.

Jabuutaawi a question where does your hate for isaaq come from Iam here in Djibouti and reer djibouti the moment I say I am isaaq from habarawal they welcome me. So why do you dislike isaaq what did isaaq so to ciise. Isaaq has only one enemy in the horn of Africa it's darod. We have no issues with ciises or gurgure akishe.

Not all Arsi are Muslim. They have a large minority of Christians, and some waaqefatas.

Arsi and Hararge Oromos hate Habesha the most because we were the ones who took the most kills by the highlanders. Some of the generals were from the Macca and Tulama clans, and that is why you don’t see all Oromos United. Some people see those Oromos as traitors for killing their own.

Do the people below look Somali to you?

You want me to insult ciise waraabe. I don't get it I am here in jabuuti the ciise I met are very welcoming I don't feel I am a foreigner here. Maybe you just have irrational hate for isaaq. Isaaq does not hate ciise. Only in 1999.we had a small clash. Isaaq Only hates jabartis.
