I've been reading people's results on here regarding their haplogroups and I would like to warn anyone of you reading this to not waste your money. The haplogroups you will get in your ''results'' wont be the haplogroups of whoever you descend from for example if you're Asharaaf or Isaaq expecting a J1. The result you want changed over the course of 800 years and disappeared due to the climate the hot weather caused multiple mutations per generations and the haplogroup you are expecting was lost as a result of countless intermarriage with locals who in turn co-produced with more locals etc. If you need further explanation here is a link. As a result of this new information I won't be purchasing any pointless DNA kit from these websites.

I never trusted them from the getgo! In Somali spot we discussed it at length, it seems like they are grouping in groups. Also they dont have enough data to compare and contrast. I think the Haplo group is nonsense. I agree.

@Basra yeah it's either once you list your ethnicity as Somali they group you in one or another haplogroup instantly. And even if they didn't do that and they actually did actual examination you wouldn't get the haplogroup you expect anyways, it's been distorted with mutations and the climate for 700 years plus of constant re-marriage with the local Somali population. The percentage test is based on only up to five generations back so don't expect anything amazing from that either, and even that might be grouped without actual testing (which again would be pointless) once they read your ethnicity on the form.

Just a quick warning to any more people on this forum that want to take any of these 23andme and other dna website tests. Forget about that.
