If Ethiopia and Eritrea normalise relations, Berbera, Djibouti and the other ports will be secondary and their once strategic status quo no more.
Berbera is probably biggest loser at least Djibouti inherits some infrastructure from the no-war no-peace policy. Berbera had so many years to capitalise it but Idoor was busy fighting over bread crumbs and wasting so much energy on Mogadishu.
UAE will abandon Berbera because Asmara is more advantageous for them as a recognised government, base already there, good infrastructure, closer to Arabia. Ethiopia under TPLF is key on working with their fellow Tigringya-speakers once again which is more advantageous for them so they can invest in the future.
Ethiopia also stopped Ethiopian flights to Hargeisa. Things not looking good.

The Emirates want to punish djibouti and they want to use assab as a port they want to develop assab. Though I do believe that Ethiopia is growing rapidly economy population. So it needs more ports lamu Kenya port Sudan berbera port assab port.

The iidoor are too caught up in secessionism to realise Berbera can be placed as the premiere port of Somalia.
They should position Berbera as Somalia's first free port where raw materials etc can be imported, assembled/processed and distributed throughout all Somali lands.
Don't forget.....Bosasso port ( little more than a fishing jetty), was servicing from Borama to Beletweyne for more than a decade.

Amhara whether in diaspora or in ethiopia are with Abiy : there were even support rallys by amharas in diaspora (usa , switherland etc).
Tigreans feel that they will no longer be the shakers and the movers of the country ...specially since Abiy started reforming the army and security apparatus. They believe that amharas will takke advantage of the situation and humiliate them further.

Re: Ethiopian prime minister axmed abiye visits asmara Eritrea
I think they had a superficial understanding of ethiopian history and thought amharas and oromos will forever be enemies. Besides when the final push came the alliance that they built with peripherical nations like somalis, ben shaangul etc...didnt work or didnt have the effect they wished. Abdi did his best but was not in position of destroying oromo movement; the same with beni shaangul against amharas/oromos in the west;they both did much harm but were in no position of changing the course of history.
Then came the ouverture to Eretrea and the positive answer of they gave...and the massive reception he had in Asmara...
I hope they wont touch Abiy...because he is the last rampart between them and amharas
Abiy Ahmeds wife is Gondere and he is very popular with amharas and more so with Gonderes because he showed empathy with their grievings.
