If you do away with Somali politics. This city is a place I see myself living, no, it's not my birth city, (Mogadishu is), but I visit Somalia, I have to stop by Hargeysa for couple of days and every time, I feel 100 percent safe, unlike my birth city (Mogadishu), the somalis in Hargeysa look like me, (no pun intended). Their streets are wide like highways, Mogadishu streets are more like alley' s and narrow paths.
The people.
When I boarded my flight from Dubai, there were people who I assume were "tabliqi", maybe 10 of them from Afghanistan who boarded the flight and was heading to Hargeysa. By nature Afghans are the toughest people on earth, no one like them not even Somalis, but very humble and courages, their beards were bigger than my big Somali forehead. They were cover with traditional Afghan dresses, The traditional male dress includes the Khet partug and Perahan wa tunban, kufi, Peshawari cap, traditional lungee or paktay turban, Mazari hat, sindhi cap or pakul as traditional headgear. We somalis are Muslim, but not sincere like the Afghans, in mid air, it was time to pray fajr, we enter Somalia airspace, but Afghans were not gonna wait until we land to pray, they all stood up, some after making wudu, and pray salat fajr standing up, after prayers, young man from burco ask them, where they were going, ina broken English. Heas told that, they Afghans, have programs in Hargeysa, and many other places and usually rotate periodically. The burco villager ask them, if they were affiliated with notorious groups and tribes likeTaliban or al-Qaeda, and coming to destroy his place of dwelling. They assure him not to worry and their visit was purely humanatarian. The young burcaawi, didn't trust them and warn if they try to do any thing, they will regret. I was amuse by how the average "joes" were playing the care taker of the regions, and took upon themselves the importance and the task of community security/policing.
My first day at my hotel's restaurant, I've witness in my own eyes, a thief who had stolen something, he was caught by punch of good samiratan and by description they look like ciyaalka xaafadda, I pause my appetite to find out why 15 kids were surrounding a young man, as I get closer, I notice the man was not Somali, but Ethiopian immigrant like many of his compatriots who are roaming around the city looking for anything, food, shelter, cloth, this man decided to eat at a near by restaurant and leave with out paying. The city police has arrived and taken the man to a holding cell where he would wait for his bail. At nights there are arm security every where, hotels, banks and anywhere that is consider a place of importance, you can take a walk in the breeze of the night, with your sandles on zipping cup of tea, and you will come across lancruisel cruising the street on a low speed, driven by Syrian women, white women, or UN staff. IN the morning, I've taken a taxi, who by the way happen to be "hawiye", from Mogadishu. He was very delighted when I told him I am from Mogadishu, but disappointment quickly follow when I told him I wasn't hawiye. He admitted to me that he will never go back to Mogadishu and this is his home now, he said, "I am khaldan", now. A proud khaldaan.
P.s. my meeting with airport manager, hanging out with the airport staff, and trying out Khat, for the first time with an honorable politician who I will not name for his privacy was a memorable experience.
Real reason why I admire Hargeysa and it's people.

You are a coward Muqdisho is great liido beach, cheap lifestyle, awesome weather. No one will ask your qabiil in Muqdisho
Hargeisa and Burco are tribal cities, people from Koonfur are ostracized and treated poorly.

If they are tribal cities, why are thousands of darod and hawiye living there. Darod would rather go to Hargeisa than their dusty villages, all you have to do is walk around Hargeisa to find darod refugeesgrandpakhalif wrote: Sun Nov 04, 2018 6:02 am You are a coward Muqdisho is great liido beach, cheap lifestyle, awesome weather. There are a lot of people from the south, and they are not treated badly at all stop telling lies.grandpakhalif wrote: Sun Nov 04, 2018 6:02 am You are a coward Muqdisho is great liido beach, cheap lifestyle, awesome weather. Grandpateror is defending Mogadishu but both Mogadishu and hargeysa do not belongs to his clan he belongs in garboxaaray since galguduuud is now fully a habargedir gobol. Today he is magan for murursade. He thinks he owns part of xamar. His filthy boon can was totally cleansed from xamar. Imika nawuxu mooodaya inu sharekuleeyahay xamar. Waryaa Mogadishu belongs to hawiye. Daroodku have to defend hawiye interest because hadikalle They will be thrown out.
