1. We will never surrender
We Somaliland will rather wage a hundred year war if we have to. We will rather search for independence for 1,000 years. We will rather all die on the battlefield before we unite with Somalia again. A coward dies a thousand times, the valiant die but once. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
We will never forget the crimes that South Somalis committed against SL, which is UNFORGIVEABLE. We gave up blood, sweat, tears for Somaliland. We gave up tens of thousands of our people. We have dignity. We have honour. It would be an affront to our dead and fallen if we reunited with South Somalia. The evidence of reer Koonfur crimes against SL is well documented. Never again.
The whole horn and Somalia will burn to the ground, before Somaliland will unite with Somalia again. If the small people of Eritrea brought 100 million Ethiopians to their knees, Somaliland can certainly do the same to Somalia. If the small people of South Sudan brought the 45 million North Sudanese to heel, verily Somaliland can do the same. If we were able to bring Siad Barre's well armed, trained and powerful military to heel, we will surely do the same today. If Somaliland is to be threatened, we shall all burn together. We have many means, both conventional and unconventional at our disposal.

Even though large tracts of the Somali Peninsula and many old and famous Somali States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Xabesha Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of their lapdogs' rule, the failed so-called 'Federal Government' of Somalia, we in Somaliland shall not flag or fail.
We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in Somaliland, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the land, we shall defend our country, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.
And if, which I do not for a moment believe, this country of Somaliland or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our million people in the diaspora beyond the seas, ready to be armed and guarded, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.

2. Somaliland and Somalia have always been seperate
Somalis have always been North and South, since time immemorial. The United Somali Republic was a short 30 year experiment. It was a voluntary union of Somaliland with Somalia. It was clearly an anomaly, an error, an aberration of history, which shall not be repeated.
Our history is our reality. It is our present. It is also our future. That is: Somaliland and Somalia have always been separate, going back 1,500 years. We will return to Adal (Somalilnad) and Ajuuraan (Somalia). The two centers of Somali civilisation. As we have been since the 5th century at least.
As Somalis we are North and South. Wayooyi Somaliland and Koonfur Somalia (anything east and south of Erigabo). We have always been two separate lands and peoples. This is the case throughout history. We just share a common language. Even as far back as the 12th - 16th century we were two seperate lands. Adal Sultanate and Ajuuraan sultanate. Somaliland is nothing new, it is the modern day equivalent of Adal.
Our cultures are different. Our dialects are different. Our values & norms are different. Our food is different. Our histories are different. Our economies are different. Our geographies are different. Our economies are different. Even culture as basic as ciyaaar Soomaali v.s Niiko koonfuri. We are brotherly people, but seperate entities.
We were never united. We shall probably be never united. It is the better way. Somalis have always succeeded as two parts - North and South. The Somali lands are too big to rule from chaotic Mogadishu.

As Somalis, we have been most peaceful and economically successful when each region governed itself. History is testament to this. We had two groups of Sultanates with overlapping and competing borders only within each region e.g. North and South. But the north never ruled over the south. The south never ruled over the south.
Adal
Ifat
Majeerteenia
Warsangeli
Ajuuraan
Gabroon
Mogadishu sultanate
The largest politically centralised structures Somalis have had has been Adal Sultante and Ajuuraan Sultanate. Even our economies were never integrated. This is simply because of geography. Hargeisa is 1,500KM from Mogadishu. That is the same distance as London to Prague, or Brussels to Rome. The cultural, social, political difference is just too great.

3. Republic of Somaliland was never colonised, we won't start now

There were treaties that the community leaders and elders signed with the Brits. Those treaties defined very clearly, unequivocally and explicitly the nature and extent of the relationship between Great Britain and Somaliland. The Brits could not: claim Somaliland as a colony, or claim proprietorship or sovereignty over the land, except to the minimal and nominal extent allowed by the treaties, which was face-value and for strategic security reasons only. They could not legally marry the locals, build any churches or propagate their religion openly or distribute bibles. They could not bury their dead except in one specified graveyard in the town of Hargeisa, but even there they could only bury their Muslim employees from Yemen and India. They could not bear children in the country. They could not construct buildings or plant flora except in those towns specified in the treaties. Somalilanders even went around uprooting any trees planted by the British in Hargeisa and Berbera because this violated the treaties.
Somalia Italiana was a full blown colony with upto 310,000 white Italians settlers at the maximum point.
Somaliland was not a colony, it was only a protectorate of Great Britain, with whom it had legal agreements. It only became such because the community leaders had signed treaties with the Brits. The definition of a treaty is "a formally concluded and ratified agreement between states" Here is an example. We have a legal right to continue our independence as we have for thousands of years.

the Real reason why triangle sector clan reject their blue flag is due to them being 1 clan that cannot compete with 30 other clans in our nation and also because they live 1500 km away from their capital lol.

4. Somalia has continued to show hostility towards Somaliland. It is unacceptable that we would re-unite with a hostile people.
The evidence speaks for itself. Who in their right mind would unite with their political enemy.
Instead Somaliland government must declare war on Somalia. On all front, political, military, economic, social. The Southern politicians are in open war with Somaliland. Somaliland needs to defend its self, its people, the future of its children against these political animals.
They are trying to erase us from the Horn of Africa. The land of Somaliland is what our forefathers died for. Hundreds of thousands of our family and relatives gave their life in 1988, 89, 90 and 91. Never again will we be ruled from Mogadishu.
South Somalia's politicians are leaving us no choice. It is Somalia who claims Somaliland. It is Somalia who sabotage us at every turn. It is Somalia who try to stop our investments, aid and elections. Somalia is our eternal and mortal enemy as Somaliland. We will fight them till the end. And we are willing to.

So emotional it’s pathetic.
It’s actually disgustingly pathetic.

I conclude with Muuse Biihii's speech
Either Somalia accepts Somaliland's independence, or it is all out open war.
The choice is Somalia's.

I would hate to be this emotional about anything.
Re: Options for Somaliland, Ethiopia's meddler & interloper in chief Abiy and his lapdogs in Somalia
As for Ethiopia, if they insist and try to force on Somaliland uniting with failed Somalia, they will make an enemy out of Somaliland.
1. We will insist that the Somali Region of Ethiopia is returned to Somalis and joins with South Somalia. Since Abiy Ahmed is the new purveyor of Somali unity, he can make the Greater Somalia dream become a reality. The Greater Somalia ideology can be easily re-ignited, to Ethiopia's detriment, across the Somali region of Ethiopia.

2. We will cut all political and economic ties with Ethiopia. We will stop all Qat and vegetable imports from Ethiopia, which is $600 million per year and about 20% of Ethiopia's national exports. We can import from Yemen, Kenya and other countries instead. Their loss for siding with failed Somalia. We have no economic gains from Ethiopia, but Ethiopia is more dependent on Somaliland than it realises for much of its income. Somaliland is Ethiopia 2nd top export destination, in financial terms, after China.
3. We will cancel Ethiopia's 19% share in Berbera port corridor. This will be to Ethiopia's loss as Djibouti will continue to have a chokehold on Ethiopian imports and exports.
4. We will support the independence movements of OLF in Oromia region. We will welcome Jawar Mohammed to Hargeisa with open arms to raise funding for the upcoming election, if he supports Somaliland's independence. We will encourage the Somaliland diaspora to support Jawar in the upcoming Ethiopian elections financially.
5. We will take other non conventional and assymetric actions at our disposal which will negatively affect Ethiopia, if they continue to side with Somalia.
Ethiopia should know it is better to have an ally in an independent Somaliland than to make an enemy out of us. We have fought bigger battles before with more formidable parties and have won.

I am from Xmr and I support Somaliland recognition and to build our Banadir State, we are tired of uniting with these Ethiopian occupied Gedo people.Futurist wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2020 9:55 am Somalilqand will NEVER unite with Somalia, God willing. NEVER. Here is why.
