why habasha music sounds similar to the berber music? despite being classified as Hamitic, berber language has some similarity to those semitic langues spoken in the mahra region of South Yemen and Oman(Pre-Islamic/Arabic south arabia)
maybe the answer lies with their sabaean connections

Re: why Berber music sounds similar to habasha music?
Probably continuation of old methods to now.
Habasha music stylistically is very homogeneous which is odd when Somali music is very diverse stylistically---until you realized there really wasn't "Somali" music until the modern period which is heavily influenced by Western (American), Egyptian and Hindi (Benaadiri for example is quite literally Indian inspired).
Habasha on the other hand had a continuation of old musical heritage rooted probably in Afro-Asiatic music heritage---and they haven't changed much until the recent Pop influence (Teddy Afro, etc).
Probably that's what you hear in comparison to the Afro-Asiatic berbers.
If you listen to the Afro-Asiatic Hausa of Nigeria, to me they sound Ethiopian stylistically too (especially Oromo).
