They lost the political argument for federalism because they want a UAE like Confederation in Somalia. Their arguments ring hollow now. I’m a federalist. Like the US, the central govt has exclusive political monopoly on foreign affairs, military, monetary policy and borders ( land + sea). While the political elites in Garowe prefer a confederation. But they won’t tell you that but their trolls will.

You're right but your powerless Farmajo can't do anything about it, you don't run a single FMS that's why you want a strong centre. Dhabayaco will only support real federalists with a strong central government if they became president of Somalia.

Centralism isn’t in my long term interests and Farmaajo by account isn’t a centralist but only following the right federal model instead of the TPLF confederation we were in. Applying the law is seen as tyranny or return to full centralism. Kenya is federal so is Ethiopia but the capitals of Nairobi and Addis Ababa have full monopoly on the four political areas I listed in the OP. In the United States it’s called the Supremacy Clause. As for your claims. I know different and I’m not too worried about Farmaajo. This is his election to LOSE. The FMS and the mucarad aren’t a threat imo.

Yes. The American civil war was between Northern federalists who wanted to abolish slavery and keep the union that was formed while the Southern Confederates wanted to continue slavery of the previous centuries and wanted to keep the central govt weak to continue the slave trade. So they tried to weaken the central power of the federal govt in Washington, D.C. by insurrection. The federalists in the end won due to their belief in the national sovereignty of the country and the supremacy of the federal law. In the context of Somalia, it’s the Confederates who wanted a weak central govt so the states can arbitrarily continue to loot kill and do wholesale selling of land resources ( ports, natural resources, military bases, etc.). The FMS supporters can be akined to the Confederates who were for “state rights.” The thing the confederates need to understand is the TPLF political reality before 2017 is over. The SFG is on the right side of history and is only asserting the constitutional rights of the central govt to assume national sovereignty per the 2012 Provisional Somali Constitution while still operating under the Federal model agreed upon by all Somali stakeholders. It’s not us discarding previous agreements. It’s the opposition.

Mogadishu can always change as the capital that’s not my problem. Nor do I want to invest in Xamar personally when I have Kismaayo. But not just Gedo but all of Jubaland is my state. Gedo is 2/3 of Jubaland. That’s my strong base but the whole state is my natural interest. You worry about Puntland which isn’t even a natural state but an artificial one. Jubaland predates the existence of Somalia. But i still believe in the territorial integrity of Somalia. That’s the realpolitik. Nobody will recognize more starving third world Somali countries anymore. The world has Somalia fatigue. Honestly we know you hate Marehan politicians. So if you Zanzibaris ever become president or PM. Expect the same energy as your displaying. That’s life.

This belief in confederalism and a weak Somali national state is believed at the highest level of PL intelligentsia. Puntland can’t be considered the vanguard of Federalism anymore. They lost the argument;

I’ve been consistent on my political ideology being federalism. I even praised the Uhuru puppet Madobe for his silver tongue allegiance for the correct federalism for the country. However, his politics have been divisive and totalitarian for the people of Jubaland as well him not having a democratic mandate to rule:

I am for the unity and wholeness of Somalia but a proper faction nation where all power and economy is not in the capital only but every thing and how we go forward should be done in the open and with consultations, and those who don't want federalism should campaign and convince the public otherwise, but not go along and undermine what already agreed which is how Farmaajo behaved four years in Villa Wardhiigley, I am sure he got a lot of supporters all over Somalia but the silence and not clarifying his policy and what he believes, unless he wants to rule the nation by iron fist and that was his plan and believes all along and expectations of supporting from Ethiopia and Eritrea

Ethiopia isn’t focused on us. They can barely maintain their own internal affairs. They have Sudan and Egypt to deal with for foreign affairs. In my view the alliance is temporary until they get a free hand. Farmaajo has been playing strategically imo. Eritrea isn’t a threat but a bulwark against Abyssinian imperialism. You Zanzibaris always forget that.The country is federal. That was agreed upon on. I don’t think Farmaajo will try change the political system but build on it.
