So I actually did a small tally of the real cost to Somaliland side using neither the SSC statements and nor Muuse administration.
In particular, I leaned on the many platforms of social media and what families/loved ones/relations/friends from the Somaliland side have been sharing.
So condolences, prayers, family expressions, etc.
Something stunned me---the amount of high profile or military "officers" that have become a casualty.
So Somaliland is not or has not been in control of Laascaano since they were ejected. They have been shelling the town from posts surrounding its perimeters. Which means there is NO "CONVENTIONAL" battle engagements. It there were conventional engagements, there would be a higher casualty rate of soldiers and very few "officers." The fact there has not been conventional engagements is---this is very self-explanatory militarily----because Somaliland does not have the "capacity" and never did it would seem. This is stunning that Muuse actually engaged in belligerence towards Laascaanood considering as Commander in Chief he should have known this. It is stunning because it tells me the people of Somaliland or "Rer Hargeisa" have been betrayed by corruption and malfeasance that this was the leadership which took them into war.
Secondly, so because there have not been conventional engagements in which one can predict "officers" would be removed from the battlezone to command at a safe distance behind the protection of their battle lines---Somaliland has had to rely on these posts surrounding town to lobby artillery at "everything." Well there is an "inverse" drawback here as OFFICERS ARE IMPLICATED IN THE SAME PLACE AS VARIOUS UNITS OF SOLDIERS WHO ARE ALL LIKE POCKETS OF ISLANDS. Again, officers are disproportionately sequestered with troops which means when SSC get past "artillery" fire, they engage soldiers AND OFFICERS. In many cases, SSC "cavalry" are ambushing or "surprising" these artillery posts. WHICH IS WHY SUCH DISPROPORTIONATE NUMBER OF "OFFICERS" AND/OR HIGH PROFILE TARGETS HAVE FALLEN SO QUICKLY AND SURPRISINGLY FROM THE SOMALILAND SIDE. In fact. Muuse is "hemorrhaging" military leadership or command and he is sending MORE AND MORE there predictably to the same fate.
And I have not relied on official Muuse disclosures for casualties nor SSC in the interest of controlling for bias and instead have only relied on "scraping" social media particularly Facebook, but certainly not limited to them. There is real grief in Hargeisa that is shockingly not without basis.
And a really, really strong irony is---regardless of whatever inference you may draw from it---but the casualty in officers from Somaliland are disproportionately, and I mean "noticeably" disproportionately from the Sacad Muuse clan of Muuse. I don't know what inference to draw (maybe he only trusts them? Maybe nepotism? Maybe they just happened to have joined the army at a higher rate?), but that's whom Muuse seems to have sent disproportionately and so are disproportionately those officer casualties.
And Muuse is sending more of them to the same circumstance with no change in battle dynamics.
If Somaliland is really a democracy and not a Somali version of an "oligarchy"---is there anyone in Somaliland capable of standing up to the grief he has brought everyone in the north?
As for SSC---it is very clear that Somaliland is more like a "clan" faction engaging another clan on their home turf and nothing at all like anything remotely implicated in State or anything.
SSC will never lose control of Laascaanood to anything coming from Hargeisa. It is ridiculous that even being under this hubris makes possible the carte blanche Muuse enjoys to bring more grief to---Hargeisa!
Walaalayaaloe telling you that you are way in over your heads is not an insult or put down or an attack---waa naxariis.
You are in over your heads.
Everyone sees you as the "aggressor" when you might as well be the victim based on the cost to your communities and families so far judging by the grief in Hargeisa!
And you are losing to the slaughterhouse of the worst military strategy possible some of your finest minds supposed to become the leadership in the generations following Muuse.

if you look at this picture, you see someone pretending to be the daughter of general Ali barre , the commander of of the Eastern Division. But it's false. Ali Barre didn't die and that's not his daughter 
Wallahi it is a lie Somali woman are more "emotional" than guys---the Somali guy is the most emotional being on earth! Look at Khalid who was writing here the Lasanood Garaads declared "ceasefire" on the day Muuse Biixi declared. Only "hoogayey ba'ayeey run iyo been ha ba'deey, dhintayeey iga heli meysiinee" level of maryo-xoor emotionality could have made him that way. Marka these guys will never accept the truth of this topic that Muuse is a catastrophy for both sides!
